Just got my 2009 XB12X and after bombing around town a bit, I've noticed that it runs pretty hot? Is this a normal thing? Previous owner had installed a cooling fan that helps a bit, but the frame is really warm while riding. Just making sure if this is normal. Thanks, y'all!

A cooling fan behind the rear cylinder is stock.

Welcome to Buells! Every XB is equipped with a factory installed right leg heating system, and this cannot be disabled while the bike is in use.

In all seriousness, yes, they get hot, it is a high power air cooled motor in a tight frame. The fan is stock and keeps the rear cylinder cool. It is loud, but it does its job, and a lot of that heat ends up on the frame. Loud fans save lives.

Thanks, fellas.

Another question. The framework that holds the saddlebags on. Can I safely remove them?
