Was riding home from my Pan America test ride today when all of a sudden my dash went completely dead minus the high beam light— was tooling along at 45-50 mph, the low fuel light and the mileage counter started its count up from the light coming on, made it to about 9 miles into the count up ... the bike kept running but NO tach, no odometer, no speedo, no dash lights other than the high beam light, turn signals didn’t work, horn did work, was able to stop for gas and it started right up, still no dash lights... fans didn’t come on but it was darn chilly out ... when home, both low and high beams work, brake lights work, but no taillight, no turn signals....

Any ideas? Bike has 16,700 miles on it... waiting for it to cool down a bit to check fuses under seat..

Fuses would be my first guess or something came loose. Others here with much much more experience.

Checked the fuses, the 10 amp “acc” one was blown... all is back to working... well minus the turn signals, left works fine, right makes a buzzing sound from behind the flyscreen, guessing a relay under there... will dive under it tomorrow, even though I’m not a big turn signal user, lol..

Check the wiring harness at the steering head, I know their was an issue with the harness chaffing and wires breaking up there and maybe your power to the gauge wire went out. Try wiggling that around and see if that will do anything, if so you found your culprit and will need to solder and extend a few wires.

Check the grounds, too.
