I know Buell XB has some really crappy quality parts but I did not expect this can happen.

Today I rode my motorcycle and slightly tapped the horn signal button to alert a dangerously turning car pulling in front of me and at the second tap the button just snapped and flew away.

The motorcycle is 2009 Buell XB12Scg, 25000 miles, I always kept it in the garage and if parked on the work parking lot I aways kept it under motorcycle cover. So the button was newer exposed to elements, extreme temperatures or UV light. I use horn very rare and never push it hard. I am really surprised this pretty thick peace of plastic can snap.

So I guess I need horn button part number to find and buy the item replacement and fix my motorcycle. Or any aftermarket replacement for this button. Anyone knows what can work for this or part number for this item.

10 years old and 25K miles? You're complaining?? Silly boy...

New OEM $120:
sphdonline.com

Used OEM $39 free ship on e-bay
...

Or something custom for $11:

Bolt it on in 10 mins and go riding.

So they do not sell the button separately. Only full left control assembly. Also it looks like the horn signal button should be the same as on Buell Blast.

Looks like it was cracked for a long time.
See only a corner looks freshly broken?

The housing is not broken. The corner looks like this because of the plastic housing is slightly warped. Those plastic parts are not perfectly fit each other. Poor design.

Maybe it was OK to do such way 10 years ago. I google about horn trigger broken off issues and found it is pretty common issue on Buells. Such failure is definitely not acceptable.

You can replace the WHOLE THING for $11 and you want to buy just the plastic button?? Are you feeling OK??
Why would you even spend the time taking it apart?

You sound like an engineer, LOL.
So you'll spend $1000 worth of time and effort to engineer one out of billet to solve the non-existent 'problem' you are having.

Lets see that sexy $1000 billet horn button!

I can not replace the whole thing because of I have modified the left control housing for voltmeter gauge.

I don't want to do this work again. But anyway I already ordered used assembly on eBay to take the button out of it. Will see, maybe I will CNC new button out of aluminum to not meet this issue anymore.

Yeah I like it too.

I have installed the good horn switch button. The process is pretty easy, just pay attention where the mating features of the internal components should be.
