Is the bolt pattern for the ZTL2 caliper the same for all models? I.e. will a ZTL2 caliper off an EBR 1190 fit a 2006 Uly?

Yes, I know i have to replace the master cylinder.

Sure. A design and manufacture cost saving.
I'd like to find one for my XB without having to pay a small fortune.

They all bolt up identically and IMO it's a huge, worthwhile upgrade. The ZTL-2 likes a 3/4" (19mm) master. Either a Later model Buell, or you can find any radial style M/c for 7/8" bars that works.

LAP has them on Ebay. Brand new with pads. I've seen them as low as $150!

If you do that, do you also have to change the master cylinder?

I believe so. I installed a 17mm Nissan Radial MC to go with the standard 6 piston caliper. That was the size recommended on the Nissan website. It improved braking performance and PERCEIVED braking power, so a worthwhile upgrade IMHO. I believe because the cylinder being a little smaller allows greater mechanical advantage. Everything I have read indicates that 19mm is the size to use withe the 8 piston caliper to maintain the optimal ratio between MC piston area and total piston area of the brake calipers, which (if I remember correctly) is about 13/1 (or is that air fuel?? ) Anyway, I have no idea where you can find the caliper piston dimensions online so I would just go with the recommended 19 mm. I think 17 mm would give too much lever travel and possibly enough braking force in a panic situation.
