The first gasoline fueled motorcycle was created by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. It was called the Reitwagen (Riding Car)
Look at the rake on the wooden frame. Do you think our XB's got some inspiration from this bike? : )

I don't think you're supposed to burn the wood frame to fuel the bike.

I do appreciate the training wheels.

Just a simple, natural...point to point frame design.
Had to have been pure hell on the butt cheeks and spine.
I also don't understand the "training wheels". Seem to be REALLY intrusive on cornering angle. But I guess with flat faced wheels (tires?), they would be sort of a safety item..!

There's a lot going on in that "simple" machine.

Cool picture though, thanks for posting.

The training wheels are the kickstand.

Daimler just wanted a testbed for his new engine.
Roper however made this:

He died while riding his last bike.
Heart attack THEN crashed!
It had two wheels and twist grip controls, and ran on charcoal.

Steering looks to be a bit "loosey-goosey" on a good day.
