Did not want to hijack skipbarberman's thread but was interested in the following comment from Shoggin:

Hey Skip, I'm no tuning pro, but I'm comfortable with ECMDroid (free) and I got burner with no contract for $39 that was last years Android.

Wireless hook up to the bike (Buelltooth, $45), drop the phone in my pocket, datalog, run it through MLV, bam...

I know it's not the hero way to 'build a tune from scratch' but waaaay easier, hugely faster, and the AFV stays between 99-101 so it's close enough for excellent power and ride-ability.

I did install a WB sensor in the rear, it also has a NB emulator so I can just run the bike CL after instead of swapping out the O2.

If you enjoy custom tuning, go for it: )I'm curious about the process and may have a 1250 kit in my future!
If you just want to ride your bike I'm happy with my way.

My question is how does data logging like this lead to tuning or adjusting fuel and timing maps? I assume that this will tell you what your engine is doing. Don't you still have to make whatever adjustments you want? and can this be done with EDMdroid or do you need ecmspy? This may not be the place to explain all the fundamentals and exactly what ecmdroid can and cannot do, but i would be grateful if anyone can direct me where to read the course on tuning 101. I may not be tuning it myself but I want to understand the process and the tools available.

Thankss.

I'll try no to hijack too much, you can start a new thread if you like, and remember I am NOT a pro, but this Is how I use it:

ECMDroid is only a tool for installing maps and recording data. Any "tuning" is done by you, then you install the new map with ECMDroid through the bluetooth data connection (Buelltooth thing)

Datalogging is the first step, like you said all it does is tell you what your engine is doing with the tune on it now.

I put that datalog info into MegaLog Viewer, and set the parameters where I want them (AFR targets).

MLV then spits out the adjusted fuel program by using the datalog info and applying the target changes I want.

Then I install that new fuel program with ECMDroid.

I have found that the type of datalogging you do affects the final output. Lots of datalogging at WOT on a dyno will net max power. Lots of datalogging while riding on the street will net the best ridability. 10 mins at operating temp is fine. Try to datalog in all parts of the RPM range at all points of throttle opening.

I really know nothing but this video details the process. Just bought MegaLogViewer MS and i'm going to try to log a ride and update the map as mentioned in the video 4-5 times until I get AFV close to 100 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuqwOmoNwPg&t=57s

Thanks guys. So Shoggin, are you talking about the basic ecmdroid?

Anyone got feedback on the tunabuell system, with or without having buelltooth send new maps?

Shoggin, I saw you posted previously that you have a buelltooth ST exhaust. Did you find any improvements in performance and drivablility from stock?

I only think theres one version of ECMDroid, and it's free. Google play store.

I haven't tried the TunaBuell, but seems a very inexpensive way to get a WB O2 with a NB emulator on board. IMO I would want to keep the CL operation and let the ECM adjust vs. OL only and hope for a perfect tune. To each their own, opinions abound.

I love the SuperTrapp! I have one on both the STT and the XB-9SX: )
Of course exhaust is always super-subjective but IMHO it's low, rumbly, but not too loud. Light and looks great. I wouldn't hesitate to put it on the next Buell I buy.

Today I decided to not mess around with tuning it myself. I have played with maps and the results were kind of scary. I just want it running right. So I bought the Tunabuell system with the remote tuning service. I think its a great deal to be honest. 300 and you get a wideband and hopefully a great tune from an expert.

shoggin, any comments on performance of the ST pipe?

Nothing concrete. I haven't done back to back dyno testing with it. Besides, it's never the pipe that makes them 'run well', it's the tune.

Most peoples 'butt dyno' is only good for 20hp accuracy, so any comments like "Wow! it's so much faster" should be taken with a grain of salt. Louder= faster is most peoples brain, haha.

I can say it's good materials (all stainless), built solid, I like the tone and the volume, and don't forget Erik himself liked them on the tubers

Thanks Shoggin. CAn't argue with you. But on the street, the butt dyno is all that counts, right? If if it feels fast that's all that matters.

Ishampadron, please let us know how that worked out for you. I am not sure how it will work with stock exhaust and the actuator. The guy from buelltooth (didn't get his name) said to try his "race" tune. But I had the EBR race ECM and bike runs much better with stock ECM and working actuator. In fact it runs so well, i may kick myself for messing with it but just can't leave well enough alone.

Right now I'm just tinkering with ECMdroid logs and then pulling them up in MegalogViewer, using VE analyze and then taking that map and loading it back into ECMdroid. Wish this was more streamlined... Kind of have it figured out. Waiting for Tunebuell so that it can be expertly tuned
