I have an 03 bike with an 07 motor. I just bought the swing arm and was wondering if the old 03 axle will fit in the new 07 swing arm.

Yes

All XBs from 2003 to 2009 use the same axles. Only exception is 2010s have a different rear axle but the new axle also works on older bikes.

Oddly enough, my 2009 XB12R came with an 1125 axle. Only reason I know this is that my PitBull Trailer Restraint pin for the XB didn't fit. Turns out that a few of the later bikes got the 1125 axle - which is functionally identical except for the ID on the LH side. Just FYI.

I don't even know how that is possible, as the 1125 rear axle is reverse threaded.

Ok. I have the correct swing arm installed to the motor. Now when i try to put the belt on its too short.

07 motor 06 swing arm, 03 wheel. Does the 06 wheel have a different sprocket? Maybe the 03 belt is too short. Any suggestions?

The 03 belt and sprokets are different (smaller pitch). You'll need newer sprockets. Not sure if the tensioner is the same or not...

Froggy, you're correct...my bad. I didn't realize it at the time, but it's just the ID that was shared with the 1125. That axle is also much longer.

I think you could also put the 03 sprocket on the engine, but changing to the bigger belt and sprockets is a better idea.

Yep 2003 had different sprockets than later years, you will need to convert the motor to the 03 sprocket, or switch the belt, pulleys and tensioner to the 2004+ style

Also, your 06 swingarm, are you sure it was from a Firebolt or short wheelbase Lightning? The Lightning Long/STT/Ulysses has a longer wheelbase, mostly due to a longer swingarm. As result, they have a longer belt.

What I purchased from ebay was

https://www.ebay.com/itm/382534045783
06 Buell XB9R Firebolt Rear Swing Arm Swingarm Frame Oil Tank

Part is off a Good Running and Clean 2006 06 Buell XB9R Firebolt with 24,220 Miles

I guess I might as well get the updated 2004+ wheel pulley, belt and tensioner.

Is the idler really different than the 03 one? Looks exactly the same.

On ebay I'm seeing wheel sprockets that are 65T, 70T, 72T.

Once I get this correct pulley whats the correct belt to get?

65T would be the sprocket for you.

The 2003 idler pulley does have a different part number than the later ones, but I believe this was only to add another bearing in there to toughen them up.

G0500.1AAH is the belt that goes with the 65T rear sprocket, 27T front sprocket, and the shorter of the swing arms.

Will this 128 tooth, 14mm pitch, amazon one work? There was a review that said it fit an 07 xb9sx, 2005 Buell XB12r,

It probably would. If you need anything else for your bike, St. Paul Harley probably has it new for less than used eBay prices, so getting the belt while you're there may make some sense.

Yes, the idler pulley is different. I converted my 2003 from the 11mm Gates setup to the 2004+ 14mm Goodyear system. The pulleys are noticeably larger, as you would expect with a larger tooth pitch, same number of teeth. The pulley arm/mount is different as is the front pulley cover (larger to accept the larger pulley). You have to go one way - stay (2003 11mm Gates) - or go the other (2004+ 14mm Goodyear). with all components. The 128 tooth 14mm belt is the correct belt for the XBs with a short swingarm; either Firebolt or Lightning, NOT the Ulysses or STT as stated above. Do yourself a favor, buy the Goodyear factory belt...it's piece of mind for a few more bucks.

The 2010 axle is black.
Least the one that came with the 2010 rear wheel kit was.

Yep. 2010 axles are black and will work with both the 2 bearing and 3-bearing wheels. The 3 bearing wheels also get a spacer.
