Looking for recommendations on a helmet headset.
Riding a Uly with a gutted stock exhaust, probably a drummer/ D&D essence of sound.
Commuting 3 hours a day on it and thinking of a headset for music and phone access.
Though I wonder how the sound of the music would be with the noise of the bike, and how calls would be with my exhaust droning into the exhaust.

Anyone with a loud Buell running a headset? If so how do you like it, and what one are you running?
I see a lot of them on sites like Amazon, and a HUGE variance in price

I run a Sena 20 and LOVE it.
Even on the EBR with APH 105dB exhaust!
Phone calls are noise cancelled so well they don't even know I'm riding. It's seriously impressive.
But asking Siri something is NOT noise canceled? So she can't understand anything.
The speakers a just loud enough, careful positioning and distance to your ears is critical.
It will play max volume for at least 10 hours before a charge.
The speaker kits are cheap to add the unit to other helmets.

I do have my complaints though. The easy functions are easy, but it does so much stuff its hard to remember what does what sometimes.
The volume between functions is weird. The beeps will be deafening but the radio quiet? I'm sure its a setting...

A total game changer was to get some Shure 215 earbuds and plug them into the unit. They have foam inserts that work like ear plugs, lay flush in your ears for easy helmet use. Worth every penny.

I picked up a Shoei Neotec a couple weeks ago. Substantial price drop with the new model release. The Sena 10U has an integrated unit for the Neotec, which is pretty nice.

id recommend the sena system.
I love it for OHV/group rides.
its also handy for tunes and navigation

the 20 does have some nice features (and an app), but the 10 is a good bang for the buck and the helmet mounts are way cheaper.

I have the cheap sena 3s, all self contained inside the helmet, no block on the outside of the helmet. Works great and get about 8-9 hrs to a charge with volume on max. Usually find it on amazon or other outlets for $70 or so.

Never tried the intercom shit.

The Sena 10s range in my Bell helmet is a lot shorter than advertised, but the comms are clear. There is about half a second delay so it is odd when talking face to face off the bike. We love it though.

Still haven't connected phones for music or calls.

Picked up a sena 10 something unit for 150ish on amazon, works great for music, of course it could always be louder when on the buell, but it works. tried one phone call they said it had a lot of noise, ill have to mess with microphone placement.
haven't paired it to another yet, maybe before summer is up ill end up with a girlfriend who likes to ride and then ill try that part

Try it with ear plugs.
Doesn’t sound like it’s make sense but the little orange foam plugs help to block out the wind/bike/road noise and let me hear what is coming out if the speakers
