Some pics of folks and Bad Webbers at the North Carolina Transportation Museum on the annual Carolina Classic Motorcycle Show in Salisbury, NC

A great group of people enjoying MCs and seeing an XBRR up close, many for the first time. A new appreciation of Erik Buell & his creations.

My hope is that those in the pictures will write in and describe their day.

I got an email from Bill Williams in the top picture with his black Uly. Very kind of him to park next to the XBRR to give a comparison of Erik and the Elves handy work.

In answer to Oddball's question about flipping the XBRR, not even hell could come close to the anguish I would self incur.

The second picture with a wife and husband, were from Wilmington, NC. He had worked many years for Carolina Coast H-D from whom I purchased th RR. He remembers it and related some old times at a great dealership.

It would be nice if the other attendees send a note. Also, if anyone sees a familiar face let us know who. I found this picture to add to the dialog.

How about a Buell meet-up next year?

The leader of the pack is a fellow named Les (he had a couple Triumphs there) and is a really good guy to talk about all different kinds of bikes.

His big push is to get folks to the NC Transportation Museum and if a bunch of Buells show up for the specials class, I am quite sure he'd be happy.

Greensboro HD still has...

Greensboro H-D is no longer. According to the internet, now they are Riding High H-D in High Point, NC.

I hadn't heard either. It sure shocked me when I rode by the former Greensboro location yesterday on my way up to Wisconsin and saw the empty building with no signage.

Hey, want to throw money away?
Hey, want to race an XBRR?

From another site, try these engine prices for the XBRR and be glad you do not own one....

In case anyone is considering going racing with an XBRR, bring your wallet. Here's a sampling of some of the prices of this stuff:

Engine assembly: $18,000
Crankcase set: $2635
Flywheel & connecting rod assembly: $1780 each
Cylinder head, bare:$1800, assembled $2379 (each)
cylinder: $576.50 each
Piston, with rings: $354 each
cam set, with pinion gear: $1026.25
Pushrods: $189 each
Rocker Arms: $176 each

XBRR was nice when it was racing in Formula Extreme a decade ago (or longer) but kinda of a novelty. It certainly was cool for us Buell fans to watch those XBRRs fight with the built 600s of the time. The XBRR will always have a special place in my heart. One of my fave pics ever was one of myself and Walt Sipp in front of his XBRR at Laguna Seca. Unfortunately, I think someone threw it away during my move from my last house. I am still holding out hope I will come across it one day, but I think it's gone.

That being said they were unreliable and uncompetitive...and my 1125R makes about the same amount of HP for a small fraction of the cost.

Agreed, they're cool to us Buell folks, and if I hit the lottery I'd own two of them (one in CF and one in the Buell colors).
But they didnt do too well in competition and, honestly, you had a bike struggling to compete with 600s...

Im more impressed by the 1125RR ran in AMA Superbike, battling it out with the other liter bikes and best riders in the USA.

All that said - I get a chub when I see one in person!
