I traded bikes for a ride with a friend of mine who vlogs in NYC. Check it out!

If he thinks the idle is strange, he should see mine where it almost literally jumps up and down.

Too funny . . I recognize all the locations. Worst place in the world for a test ride. That kind of looks like when I took the XB9 up there, years ago, to shoot the photos for HD.

Fun stuff !

The most fun thing is to go out about midnight . . . a full moon works great . . and pound Gotham on a Buell . . . do the late night coffee shops.

I used to take that route (BQE > Wburg Br > LES) every day getting back and forth to my workshop. I see they finally repaved the outer lane. You used to be able to see through the grate to the water where the road surface had worn away.

Nice to see recognition of the excellent Buell bike by a Duc rider. Hard to deny what a fantastic machine the XB is.

I enjoyed watching that. Nice to see someone with a monster appreciate a Buell. I know I've spent a little time over on those forums because I wouldn't mind picking up an old monster 600 as a cleanup project/commuter someday, and I was curious to find a little info on them and of course looked to see if there were any buell/ducati comparisons from people who have ridden/owned both. Most of the comments were pretty negative towards Buells. I know there's plenty of criticism of them across the board, but the stuff on those forums seems to be more of "this lowly buell doesn't deserve my royal butt on it's seat". As someone who would gladly ride anything from a 1992 ninja 250 up through a 2017 superduke 1290, purely because I enjoy riding bikes in general, I don't usually have the energy required to deal with people who determine that a whole brand of motorcycles just aren't special enough for them. Nice to hear someone with a monster actually spend some time on the Buell and enjoy it for what it actually is, and not just for the attention it gets them when they walk up to people and say "I own a Ducati".

I was a little surprised when he was talking about the endless power the bike had, but after I got a better look at the ducati, it looks like it's a 620, which only had about 55-60hp, I don't remember the number off the top of my head, but they're not the fastest bikes to begin with. Still look like they could be fun though, and they definitely appeal to me in the same way my S1 does, with the simple engine in a steel frame, that I wouldn't hesitate to pull apart into a thousand pieces in my garage just for fun.
