Okay guys this may be common sense to all you XB guys, but are all the plastics (front fender, flyscreen, air filter cover, chin fairing) interchangeable for the various years and models? As in putting newer XB12 plastics on an older XB9?

I know there are variations like with the ulysess front fender/beak but what about with the lightnings?

Thanks,
Spencer

Just about all the plastics from all years and all models will work, even 1125r/cr.

You can use any year/model XB/1125 airbox on your 03. The covers on the 06+ XB models have an air intake at the front, you can still use the cover it is just not functional.

All years and variants of XB Lightning use the same flyscreen, the Uly, Firebolt ones will mount right up if you get their respective brackets, 1125CR/R will work too if you get creative with things like mounting the gauge cluster.

You can use the front fender off any XB or 1125. The only two that were different were the STT and XB12X/XP, but those will bolt on fine if you prefer that style.

All XB models use the same chin fairing plastics. On later years, the center piece has a bit of a channel to give more wheel clearance.

Given you have a Lightning, there is no tail plastic, but just for information all Firebolts and 1125s use the same tail section plastic.

Thanks Froggy, what do you mean about an air intake at the front? I looked at pictures online and I can't see any difference between the two, it looks like the 06+ still have the air intake on the left side below the frame

Thanks,

The air intake on the 06+ bikes is behind the gas cap, take a look at this photo

The left side scoop is still on the bike, but it is not an air intake, it is for cooling purposes.

Also for comparison, a cover without the intake:

Also, here is a comparison of the inner airbox
