09 Uly, race ecu 2010 map.
when cruising thru little towns at a steady 30 mph or anything slow and steady it seems like I have slight surging. not noticeable above about 4,000 rpm but will do it in any gear, I'm not sure surging is the right description but its a bit jerky.
Is this just character or should I try to tune it out? I don't want to drop a lot of money at a HD dealer but thought maybe there's a fix I don't know about.
I've only had it a bit over 1,000 miles so just getting bonded. It has total of 17k and is very clean an well taken care of.

Mine didn't surge for years but after doing a tps reset I discovered that a bit of surge had slowly snuck up on me and I hadn't noticed it or had just dismissed it. Kinda like boiling a frog, ya know? (use cold water)
Anyway, after the tps reset the surge was gone and I was like WOW what a difference!
These bikes are not supposed to surge.

i dont own a ulysses but a xb12ss. mine has the same symptom of 'surging' at low speeds. always sounding like it wants to go faster. how do you reset your tps?

I'm wondering if it is a dirty TPS on mine, thinking about replacing it with the "generic" ford TPS that is listed in one of the other threads.

I'd rather try resetting mine before buying a Ford unit. but keep us posted.

My '06 had a bit of a surge cruising right around 3,000 RPM when it was stock. I went to a K&N filter, opened up air box, Jardine exhaust (with baffle! It's still loud!), and a remap all at the same time. Bike runs much better now in many ways.

I've reset mine a few times and I still get some trouble spots until I rock the throttle opened and closed a couple times. Then it will cruise for a while just fine, but eventually the surging happens again and I start the process all over. Kind of a classic dirty pot symptom.

Not sure why the Ford parts are looked at as "wrong", the Ford fuel pump is correct, several parts have FORD stamped in them, the fuse and relay box are FORD parts from some kind of thing or another (not that you can buy the fuse or relay box), etc. Personally I'm glad that such common parts were used, we'll be even more happy when HD finally abandons the Buell parts because we'll still be able to perform service.

I didn't mean to Diss Ford, I'm all for using the cheapest alternatives. My Guzzi has a Harley TPS ($32) vs $265. for the Guzzi stock part.
but a reset would be free if I had the software or a friend locally who has it.
If the software came for Mac I'd buy it but my experience with Windows based stuff on my partitioned mac sucks. it's slow

That HD part is also probably a FORD part, and probably from a Mustang in the 95 to 99 vintage.

The Autozone price for the TPS for '07 is only $3 less than from American Sport Bike. Better to support American Sport Bike.

I put some videos down a way in that thread

{ tried a cold tps reset on a whim after doing MANY hot ones different techniques and have never been happier with the way both my Uly's run. The vids have a lot of wind noise but you'll see I can roll on from any rpm in any gear very smoothly without a single burp. I tried to accelerate to, and hold all the trouble rpm's to show. 1500 rpm in any gear no problem. There's 2 vids. The one named gopro hasvthe audionout of synch, which I willntry to fix...so the effect is there when I go thru that gate and upshift thru 3rd at idle then roll it to 6k. What a hoot
