I put new pads on the rear (19k miles) since I'm putting new ones on the front. There was tight clearance for the (original) rotor between the caliper carrier and the new inside pad, but it went on. Now the wheel turns with some stiffness. The carrier is not rubbing and I pumped the brake pedal to push the inside pad hard against the caliper. Will riding free this up? | ||

Did you compress the pistons all the way? If so you may want to check the fluid...A rag/Paper Towel removes fluid from the Res pretty quickly. | ||

I had the cap off and was making sure it didn't overflow. I called Al Lighton (who supplied the pads) and he said I should take the caliper back off, carefully push the piston almost out and clean it, also clean and re-lube the caliper mountings. One of today's tasks. | ||

Ahh so the thinking is that black crap jammed the piston a bit? | ||

Yes, but no improvement. Very little dirt came out when I sprayed it down good. Maybe I'll rotate the wheel by hand for a few minutes to get some low speed wear in. Probably insignificant, though. |
