Hi guys,

Just wondering if I'm missing something here. I need to lower my shift lever so I've loosened off the jam nuts, but can not for the life of me, rotate the shaft to change the lever height.

The shaft is totally round, so don't really fancy mashing it up with some toothed pliers or suchlike.

Is there an easier way to do this that I just cant see?

Thanks.

The outer tube should spin freely if the jamb nuts are lose. Try soaking it a bit with some penetrant and if that dosent work loosen up one of the heim joints so you have something more to get a hold of and see it it will free up.

Penetrating oil did the trick.

Thanks.

if you are making gross adjustments you can move the whole rig one tooth on the shift shaft. loosen and remove the pinch bolt then re-install.
then use the turnbuckle to dial it in to juuuust the right spot.

for reassembly be sure to use plenty of the blue loctite. pretty much everywhere on these bikes

Might want to avoid the loctite on the adjuster tube itself and just put it where the lock nuts go. Someone in another thread recently destroyed their linkage trying to get it undone after using too much loctite. Still, blue loctite is a good friend to a Buell!

Here's that thread... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/710741.html?1367334546
