Hi all,
I recently got my first Buell and am loving it so far, a 09 XB12R.

Quick question: What rear shock is swappable from other models to the 09 XB12R?

Reason: I went to adjust the suspension yesterday as I noticed that it just didnt feel right. When I pushed down on the rear of the bike it was so squishy it felt like a plush lounge rather than a stiff rear shock.

I went through the manual and found that the compression is setup from under the seat. As I began to turn the dial I noticed that it just kept turning and turning and turning and turning and turning. It wouldnt stop. Think of it like a pill bottle where you need to squeeze the cap to get it off and when you dont it just clicks and keeps turning.

So I can only assume that it is screwed and im going to have to replace it.

Thanks in advance.

All years of the XB9R and 12R, and the XB9S, 9SX, 12S, 12sx, all use the same rear shock, which is easy to identify by the blue spring.

I'm not sure the cause of your suspension issue, but it may be possible to have the shock rebuilt by a suspension shop, which may or may not be cheaper than buying a replacement.

I have one from a 04 with low miles I'd be willing to make a deal on!

Thanks for the quick reply Froggy, just the answer I was after! The hunt begins!

Rageonthedl, I would be interested but the issue is I am in Australia, so unless you can get a hold of cheap shipping or you live here it might turn out to be a little expensive?

Should be under $40 to send it to you in the mail, probably more like $20 USD.

Do you have a shock Greg? I emailed some stores and have got some prices back, just waiting for them to confirm shipping for me.

Nope, but it should fit in a Priority flat rate large box which is $20 domestically and shouldn't be more than double to get to you.
