I am going to change my rear wheel for a 2010 3-bearing wheel and am considering what cosmetic changes I can/should make while I'm at it. I currently have silver w/ polished lip wheels. I can't buy a 3-bearing wheel with the factory silver finish to match my front wheel so I'm left with these options:

1. Have the new rear wheel re-finished to match the factory silver w/ polished lip. The finish may not match the factory finish though.

2. Have the new rear wheel and my current front wheel both refinished to match. I'm considering chrome plating, a bright fun color, or just a matching silver w/polished lip.

I am also considering swapping my silver front forks for a newer set of the black anodized forks.

I really like the current black and silver combination and I am always apprehensive when it comes to cosmetic changes. I have no problem deciding on mechanical upgrades but I fear regret with cosmetic investments. Help me decide!! Photoshop may be a good way to see how things would look, but I don't know how to make that happen. Here is the bike now:

The black and silver is pretty sweet looking.

I have always been a little partial to the black with amber/orange wheels, even thou they are a PITA to keep clean.

Chrome would look good, easy to keep clean but might get pricey to have them chromed.

If it were Mine I might get crazy with the powder coat and do something like 90% black but one Bright Red spoke on the rear and pair or spokes up front.

Or the hubs and hoops one color and the spokes another.

What ever you decide, I might be interested in what ever you have left over, be it just a 2 bearing rear or a rear and front. Could use some spares.

I love the look of your bike. I have thought about striping the black off my wheels, doing a light polish, and then anodizing clear ... assuming that is possible.

I've got Hyper Black wheels on my car:

(Not mine but similar)

its like a black chrome, that would look sick on this bike.

Love following your posts, and the progress you're making with your bike. Such a sweet ride! I think it would look great with Cherry Bomb Red wheels - that's one of my favorite features on my 12R!

Personally, I think you've got it exactly right!
Maybe a reflective striping one the rimlips to aid visibility.
So I would stay with the silver rims.It is understated and all business!

In keeping with your aesthetic vision:
Consider polishing both wheels to a high luster.
Then have them clear powder coated.

Beauty of sparkle with durability of powder coat.

I don't know why but I vision powder coated in Baby Blue. The same color as on the Rizla Suzuki Moto GP bikes. Nothing else coated that color.... just wheels.

Just my opinion but no chrome, the satin finish looks great!

a black wheel rear and a silver wheel front, to match your engine setup ( turbo with a black propeller on the exhaust side and a silver one at the intake side ).

Half & half side-to-side like the HD VR1000?

"I really like the current black and silver combination..."

So do I Ericz. Your bike looks so good the way it is. Tastefully classy. Match the wheels as they are and keep the silver forks.

Thanks for the video.
