My bike quit running on me the other day. I had lost fuel pump and even the starter button would not work. Coasted to a stop, popped the seat, checked the suspected fusem all looked good. Put the seat back on and the bike ran..

I keep riding the bike for a week, no issues... then the bike died on me. I can hear the fuel pump fine and the starter works. I either lost spark or the fuel injectors dont open up(havent checked for spark yet)

Loaded the bike in my truck and hooked it up to ecm spy. No codes, apart from exhaust servo motor because I have a gutted exhaust.

However throttle action is does not show on ecm spy...

I suspect a short in the harness somewhere.

Any idea on the common problem areas for the harness on these bikes?

Anybody ever had trouble with the connector at the TPS?

Could it be something else?

Check where the harness runs around the battery. Mine rubbed thru against the negative battery terminal. Also pull the air box and check the wiring to the injectors. Mine rubbed against the frame. Lastly check the wire to the cylinder head temperature sensor for the rear cylinder. My developed and intermittant because it rubbed thru on the frame. And I did have a rub thru on the tps wiring because someone had improperly positioned it. And sometimes the wiring into the ECM plug will break, creating an intermittant problem. pull a bit on each wire, if one is broken, the insulation will stretch.

If the ECM is not seeing the throttle position, start there (at the ECM). Find the wire that sends the TPS signal, measure it at the ECM with a meter, and see if it's clean and reasonable.

If not, work your way back to the TPS. If it is, then the ECM has an issue (cracked perhaps).

It takes some time, patience, and tools. But if you are methodical you can hunt these gremlins down reliably.

Thanks for tips guyz, I am really amazed at how these bikes have so many wiring issues.

I know on KLR`s people put flex pipes and hoses around the wires to protect them and I think I will de the same once I figure this thing out.

Oh also is it possible to buy plugs with pigtail for out bikes? I noticed that the injector plugs say ford on them. Ca plugs and pitails be sourced from cars kinda like the fuel pumps.

You should be able to source the connector kits and use wire from where ever you can buy it. I would llok at injector connectors for the Mustang V6 84-85 years and see if they might be the same.
