So I finally washed my bike late last night. This morning on my way to work, I noticed the turn signals work working, and the dash indicated as such by not blinking when i activated the signal (left or right). The day before they worked fine, so after the wash, something has apparently happened.

I kept trying the signals and got a single flash a couple times, then they eventually started blinking very slowly.

So..... where should I start troubleshooting?

I also got a warning a couple weeks ago because my tail light was out, but the brake light was working. I checked a couple days later and found the tail light working fine. I wiggled some wiring but didn't see anything obvious and checked that the grounds were clean and tight...

any ideas?

I'm going to take a wild guess at the ignition switch being at least part of the problem and the wash may or may not be the trigger.

There are two separate contacts in the ignition switch and when the switch is moved to the 'On' position pin 1 is connected to pin 3 and pin 2 is connected to pin 4 internally in the switch.

Power (+12v) is connected to pins 1 & 4 of the ignition switch. By the 'On' connections described above there are effectively 2 power circuits.

The connections to pin 3 include all of the main operational items but the connections to pin 2 only include the items that are on when the switch is in the 'Park' position.

That includes the taillight and Euro light and the blinkers. There was someone on BB&D who had an issue that we were hunting around the ignition switch with and I ended up posting some detailed pictures of how to test the contacts, disassemble the switch and clean the contacts.

When my ignition switch failed I had very similar symptoms to you and was thinking grounds and breaks etc (I've had them all on my old '06 Uly) - the clean-up described is still working and my new ignition switch is still sitting in the box. It is very easy to check if you read the info in that link.
When the blinkers are trying to work just jiggle the ignition switch key a little and you might be able to trigger normal operation temporarily.

Thanks. I actually did the prescribed ignition switch rebuild less than a year ago.

I just tried wiggling the key to make sure and didn't have any issues. The lights are working fine now. I did forget to mention that the seat was off when i gave it a rinse but I don't think that should matter.... doesn't really function as a seal.

The reason I thought it was the water is because the issue did happen immediately after the wash and the tail light issue happened after riding from mississippi to sc in the rain for about 300 miles. I didn't have any prior symptoms.

Tap on your turn signal relay. The same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago. The relay sticks causing the flasher to get "stuck"

It literally slowing started working during the morning commute. Its been fine since then. Guess I'll get a relay and have it on standby.

I've had my signals go solid on after the switch pod got soaked during heavy rain. use compressed air to blow out the pod and ignition after washing and see if it makes a difference, it's what I do and it's "fixed" the problem for me. If the bike is going to spend the work day waiting in the rain I'll tie a plastic shopping bag over the left pod to keep my safety equipment working right.
