hey guys, does someone know if the oil from the tank/swingarm goes thru the filter before reaching the crank ?

It should... why? Dump some sand in there? :-P

Typically flow on a vehicle goes tank -> oil pump -> oil filter -> (bearings & head & such) -> dribble back into either the oil pan or the sump to be pumped back to the tank.

actually sort of! i did neglect to clean around the filler hole..
