This might be old news , but I found a neat "tiny" K&N filter to T-in on your filter mod hose . It is about a 1 1/4" wide , 1" tall , the smallest I have seen . K&N part# 62-2470 , really nice looking and it does not stick out like some of the bigger ones I have seen . I have it T'd in down a ways on my breather hose , with a short hose down further with a stainless steel button head bolt in it , remove to drain . Simple  | ||

nice! I have literally the same setup on mine. I couldnt find anywhere to run the hose but, up front. same as you, I've just got a bolt that I remove to drain. The hose itself is my "catch can" | ||

I had a similar filter in the same location. The blow by spooge makes a mess of the engine. | ||

I am just getting ready to replace my cheap AutoZone filter on my breather mod. I like the little K&N you found much better! Got a part number to share? | ||

The only drawback with the little K&N filter is , it was kinda pricy at my speed shop location . $19.00 , But like I said before , I have not seen one this small or as nice quality . | ||

Don't have pics with me right now, but I ran my breather mod hose through the left side air scoop. Keeps it pretty much out of sight. Just had to drill a hole the size of the hose OD at the bottom. Looks very clean. I then ran the hose thorugh the chin fairing along the left side and it stops just behind the shifter. No filter for now. Just open and is not making too much mess if I keep the oil level at the middle or lower of the range. | ||

As another option, I placed mine right along side the gas vapor line, behind the rider heel guard. A small cheap Auto Zone filter is on a T right above the oil cap. Like some others, I don't plug mine at all and instead let her drip and mark her territory...just like any Harley engine. :-) In reality, it doesn't really drip very much at all. It probably spits out more fumes at times then gunk. And it's pretty much out of sight, other then the small red filter with a little bit of Chinese chrome (soon to be replaced with the nicer K&N from the OP). First, a full pic after a recent washing...  ...and here's a close-up of the section bypass, with the bypass hose zip tied to the gas vapor line.  Like I said, another possible option for putting it pretty much out of sight. | ||

thump- why bother with the filter if the hose just vents to the atmosphere? | ||

Well , it will drip a little oil sometimes , and mine spit condensation in the colder weather . So , if you put a breather (filter) T'd in the hose and plug off the lower end w/bolt or valve , it can still breath and it will collect the drips of oil in the end of the plugged hose , rather than spooging a mess on your bike . Racers call them catch cans . | ||

if he caps the hose, then it makes sense. But without running a catch an, I just don't get it! Mine puts out WAY too much spooge to be comfortable riding without a can. Heres what I did (aluminum catch can, had it anodized black, ran the vent hose back into the airbox out side of the K&N filter with it's own filter on it), I wanted to keep it looking as stock as possible...   | ||

Andy - I originally had the hose plugged with a simple bolt, using the hose itself as the catch can. It didn't take long to notice that mine barely spits anything out, so I finally just left the bolt out. I simply left the original design with the filter in place, just in case at some point the gunk begins to gush out more and I simply plug it up again. I actually liked the look of the little red filter. Besides, it also gives non-Buellers one more thing to wonder about. LOL! btw -- I really like the "stock" look you put together too. | ||

  Mine is a hybrid of a couple of the above: Translucent catch tube runs down the front, and is capped, while the breather vent tube Tees off and runs toward the back and is only for breather air. | ||

I re- mounted mine from the front of the bike w/ the little K&N filter , to under the seat w/ the drain hose plug exiting right near the fuel pump , close to the oil dip stick . You would never know it was there unless you really looked . The little K&N filter is under the seat near the shock in the pics .      |
