You'd have to run adapters because of the new 1" axle but It is probably doable. I cant wait until these are for sale...

Would be really sweet if front brake were moved to left side.

Blake, it is a new brake rotor/rear sprocket combo to reduce unsprung mass : D

The magnesium front wheel for the 1190RS will fit all XB's, according to Mr. Buell's site.

The magnesium front wheel for the 1190RS will fit all XB's, according to Mr. Buell's site.

The only Magnesium front wheel I can find on Erik Buell Racing's website is the *old* "not legal for street use" race only front wheel as used on the DSB bikes:
http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accesso ries/chassis/magnesium-front-wheel.html

If the 1190RS front wheel is available for purchase separately I have at least one Buell that is hankering for it. However, I'd prefer that right now Erik Buell Racing concentrate his efforts on producing the 1190RS production bikes first. Not sure how the cost would compare, but the extra task (and expense) of certifying the 1190RS front wheel for street use worldwide makes me think it would be more than the *old* race only wheel - unless the volume is that much higher for the new wheel...

My unsolicited thoughts,

Mg might not be a good choice for a street bike. Kinda brittle and corrode fast, not to mention porous.
Light as a sonofaB though!

I think the best would be if we could get our dirty hands on those lacy wheels from a baracudaII.
Those front wheels are so sweet!

When I was at the Craftsman Experience, I spoke with one of the Erik Buell Racing techs about putting those wheels on an XB.

He stated it would be possible, but would take some fabrication, and they would not bolt directly up.

I recall something about the 1190RS wheels being the only DOT approved magnesium motorcycle wheels you can buy.

Dean,

The 1190RS wheels are magnesium. You found an aluminum version? : ?

With three more affordable street models are in the works, I wouldn't be surprised to find that E-B-R already has a set of aluminum wheels with the new RS design laying around. From my understanding, the new ablation casting process used to manufacture the magnesium RS wheels is what allows the previously "fragile" metal to be safely used in a street application.

(you engineering minds will most likely get more information from this article than I have)
