You know that whole "It's not if but when" thing... Yep, it finally happened.

Just up the road from the house, let the clutch out more than I had planned, sensation of the front lifting, sky, impact on the concrete and the sound of the bike sliding. Overall, everything isn't that bad... just ticked at myself. Scraped the right edge of the swing arm and where the frame/tank sticks out pretty good, broke the right foot peg, bent and broke the front brake lever off, headlight assembly knocked loose and the throttle is stiff/sticking.

So much for the Sunday ride.

How are you?

The throttle is probably just the end of the throttle tube being beat up.

Right foot pegs are about $20. Same for brake levers (unless you want an excuse to get a shiny aftermarket adjustable one).

I bet you can get most of the parts from other badwebbers cheap.

I'm doing well. Have some scrapes, and sore in some spots. More ticked about the bike than myself.

Debating about whether or not to have the bike looked at to make sure nothing else was messed up that I can't see or think of. Structurally and internally it appears to be fine. I know most of the parts I can replace, though, I am wondering what to do about the swing arm and the frame where they got scraped.

And if anyone is wondering, it's an '07 XB12S.

How badly are they scraped? Are they leaking?

Pics might help.

But if it's just scraped, and not bent, I'd either not worry about it, or build the area up with epoxy to add a bit more protection if you hit there again.

They're just scraped, not too far down, and definitely NOT leaking. From what I can see there's no bending of the frame or swing arm.

I'll see what I can do about some pics.

I must be too fat...I can't get the front wheel up even though everyone says these are wheelie monsters. Maybe it's psychological-I know how much it may hurt.
My son, about 45 pounds lighter than me, flipped my firebolt at a stop light when he popped the clutch.
I'm glad you're not too beat up.

Yeah, I only weigh around 150 lbs, it wasn't much effort for the bike at all. I've watched a coworker wheelie his and he's around 190 lbs.

I'm still not thrilled that I damaged the bike (albeit, minor), but now that I've been processing everything I'd like to be able to master a wheelie... maybe on another bike.

As a side note... I already ride with gear on, and though this was a low speed crash (no more than 15 mph) if I didn't have my helmet, jacket and gloves this would be an entirely different story. If I wasn't an advocate for riding with gear before (which I was), I am now even more so.

Out of curiosity, any of you XB guys know a good set of clutch/brake levers and rider foot pegs that would be a good replacement if OEM parts can't be found?

OEM foot pegs are $20 or so... any dealership should be able to get them, or you can look around on eBay. I just replaced one of mine (tipped the bike over in a parking lot & snapped a peg).

Thanks for the input on the levers. I've looked at all of them, and more, over the past few days.

Debating about OEM pegs since I've been told the stock pegs are too brittle.

I wouldn't say the OEM pegs are brittle, but they designed to intentionally break off to prevent causing further damage to your bike.
