Hi everyone. Let me start off by saying I have owned 3 Harleys.

-2004 1200 Sporty
-2005 Fat Boy
-2007 Night Train

I have found myself with the strong urge to fly again, and I told myself the next bike will be one extreme or the other. A Road King or a Buell.. (haha)

My budget is saying Buell.

I've been shopping around on Craigslist and CycleTrader and have come to see that there's not a lot out there (unless I wanted a Blast). The 1125R Frightens me. I do not need that kind of power. (I will however take it if I find an insane deal)

I am really leaning toward XB-R's. There seems to be a lot more 9's out there than 12's. -Why?

I know it's only a 10 HP Difference (on paper), but will I be happier with the 12 coming from a Big Twin?

Also, how would either the 9 or the 12 compare to my old 1200 Sporty?

I want to say try and get a 12r if the opportunity presents itself anyone who knows the hp bug knows that once bitten you only want more and starting off with 10 more hp will keep you from doing wild upgrades anywhere near as quickly

LOL Thats funny.. the difference is barely noticeable.. at least to me and the 9 revs quicker. Ride both if able to as you will get varied opinions

Get frame pucks immediately. Looks like it needs a new rear tire (could by the picture).

Unless you want to stunt it or race it, the 9 is plenty powerful enough to get you thrown in jail. The 12 guys have penis envy and need the larger motor to make them satisfied

The only thing I don't like about my 9R is that I seem to have to keep it in one gear lower to make it happy at certain city speed limits (like 2nd gear at 30 to 35mph), I'm thinking a change to the 12 primary gears/chain will drop the revs enough, would get better gas mileage on the highway too.

I will honestly never even take the front wheel off the ground intentionally. It does look to need a new tire. He's asking 5800 for it. Trade in on it is 3250, I'm gonna stroke him a check for 4k and see if he takes it.

The 9 and 12 have different feels. The 12 will feel closer to the Harleys than the 9. I personally don't like the feel of the 9, but everyone is different. (Hell I'm starting to not like the 12 anymore, but 21,000 miles on an 1125 will do that: ))

$4000 is probably reasonable, maybe a little more if they put fresh rubber on both wheels, but only if it is decent rubber. Will cost you about $500 for decent rubber and mounting so take that into consideration. Next swap and I'll probably put the Mich. Pilot Power 2CT on mine.
