OK, so here is the definite spring list of fixes:
Front motor mount (isolator), rubber is starting to pull out and vibration between 2000 and 3000 pretty severe.

Since the rear mount is the same age as the front I think I need to replace the rear mount. I plan on jacking under the stock muffler to keep everything in place and want to remove only what really needs to be removed to do this.

#1 Is there a way to do this without needing to remove the motor?

#2 Do I need to block the tail of the frame in the air or will it self support with the rear mount unbolted?

#3 Anything else I should know?

Put a block of wood between the tail and rear wheel or use some straps to hang it in a hoist or to a strong beam on the ceiling of your barn (the four little bolts are not so easy to remove)

The front one is easy ,use a jack under the muffler
remove the two bolts one turn from the front head before removing the big bolt.
remove the big bolt and two little ones and its done.

But if the rear motor mount is still okay i would not replace it.
but order one for in the future.

and for the front one you can use a mount saver if its not already in pieces

(i made one from soft rubber myself and it works fine)

#1, you'll need a log although this guy Erik told us it couldn't be done without removing the engine.
#2, you'll need a log.
#3, you'll need a gravel driveway to do it the way we did...

So, what tools will help get this done? I've had the front off before so that is easy, the back is my concern.

No special tools needed ,only some allen keys and some wrenches for the stabilizer bar and something to lift the bikes tail a little.

Hey Greg, I have the same bike and now I am concerned about the vibration. if you don't mind me asking, how many miles does your bike have? Are there other factors that would reduce the "life" of these rubbers?

Thanks.

Trying to keep up with Erik in the mountains of North Georgia and dumping it in a ditch greatly reduces the life significantly...

Only like 7000 miles, but most of that was before I owned it and I'm pretty sure this thing has been beaten by ham fisted fools before I bought it. No way to say if it was from age or being beaten.
