Is there any difference between XB and 1125 rims? I.E. can I take a XB rim and put it on a 1125? bearing differences? axle differences?

thanks

I'm pretty sure there is no difference between the two. Other then the fact that the sproket is on the wrong side on the 1125 wheel. Lol. I just built up a pair of rims I got from RMR racing from eslicks old bikes and the only reason any changes were needed were because his rims had a chain conversion done to them. But I am pretty sure you can just bolt up a set of 1125 rims with nothing more then a change of hardware to xb.

All 03-09 XB and 1125 models use the same rims. Only difference is the XB12X/XB12XP, which use a reinforced rims to withstand some more abuse off road, but they still will mount to any 03-09 XB/1125 without any issue.

The 2010 rear rim is the only thing you have to look out for, they redesigned the rear wheel for all XB and 1125, so if you want to use a 2010 wheel on a previous bike or vice versa, you will need a new axle. Front rim remained the same.

thank you for the replies. that is what i thought, I had heard that the fork spacing on the triple tree was different between the two and thought that maybe the axles were different.

I think the axles might be different. But that I'm not sure of. All that I know is that you can unbolt a set of rims from an 1125 and bolt them up to an xb with no changes to the wheels.

Both XB and 1125 use the same front axle. The rears are different.

The 1125 rear bearings and axle are different. The machined wheel is the same.

All 03-09 XB and 1125 models use the same bearings, it was only the 2010s that had different sized bearings. Like you said, the axles are different.

The X and XP also are 17x5.5, they are just heavier due to the reinforcement.

They do have different part numbers, but the X/XP rim was only available in Magnesium Tone color.

If the rim is any other color, its a standard rim, or it was painted/powdercoated over.

No difference in rims. Axles difference is just the threading. Otherwise the same. Axle IS difference for the 10 rims though as it has to support the extra bearings.

I'd buy the whole "wheel"...just the "rim" won't get you very far..!

Thanks Mike. That is one of my pet peeves as well. A wheel consists of a hub, spokes and a rim. Sermon over,

Interesting, I was always taught that a rim only becomes a wheel after a tire is installed.

Good to know.
