Another comment to add to those above...I also had great issues running a Race ECM on my 12. On the 9, no issues. But on the 12, it generally ran like shit...didn't matter if I ran the stock can, Race can, or Drummer. Hard starting, stalling, surging. Ran like a raped ape when WOT, but 'eh' everywhere else. I suppose you could be experiencing something similar. Might be wise to def rule this out before proceeding.

It takes less time to fix then it did to post this concern! I invite anyone to ride my 07 XB9R and feel it for themselves,as not only is there no flat-spot,but it comes on the power like a turbo is hitting. If you look at the fuel and timing maps in the area that your problem is,you will see what is causing it.With the E spy you can advance timing slightly at low rpm and also add fuel.It took about 3or 4 maps to get mine right, but when it is right, you can't believe you rode it any other way .With my own exhaust design I also have ZERO popping on de-acel(see profile photo) It can be fixed and it is worth the time!

F22, yes, you are right. Many of these inconsistencies are easy fixes. However, based on what the OP posted, the issue sounds different than what you describe. Even on a stock or race map, the idle shouldn't fluctuate from 1000 RPM to 500 RPM. I'm a huge proponent of custom mapping, but I don't think applying that band aid to the problem will do him any favors...yet.

Well, a couple of days' running now with the rerouted breather hose, and the original ECM installed again.

Is it better? No, not really. The idle on start up no longer fluctuates...so that's good. But it still absolutely hates moving off in first when cold--desperately wanting to stall. And even once warm, the stuttering is still there below 4-4.5k.

Like Fast says, it definitely does not mind being thrashed around on back roads though, and so maybe I just learn to live with it being a little rougher while puttering around town.

Over the winter storage season, we'll look into some of these other suggestions, and we'll try to go over as much as the wiring as possible to check for chaffed wires etc but, what's a replacement TPS cost? Big bucks?
Anyone have a PN for the TPS unit for a 2003 9r? If it's fairly low cost, might just pick one up and put it in...

F22: not sure how that helps this situation. I don't even have this problem so your "fix" can't be a universal solution.

I didn't say there was a UNIVERSAL fix, just that there are alot of options out there. What bugs me most about this forum is that a Buell injection system is about as basic as it gets, and to many people comment without knowing what they are talking about They are just repeating what they have been told, without understanding of what it takes to get one to run great.B.T.W I just liked the photo, thought it said it all,no harm intended.

That's not me....that guy's got way better hair. : )

Not ignoring solutions....just trying to start with the ones that I can do myself, simply, at home.

Others that I'll try in some kind of order...Reset TPS, set idle to 950-1000, check static timing, check for intake seal leaks again (this was done earlier this summer), look into remapping, replace the TPS.....

The TPS reset happens at a buddies place, so we'll tackle a few of these others at
the same time.

Thanks for the TPS P/N and price...

Hi
I don't have any experience with Buell yet(looking for an Ss if any of you fine folks are selling) but it sounds like you are running rich to me. Have you checked your plugs?
My girl's bike had the same problem after we flashed a new map.
It seems that most here are saying more fuel, but I would certainly check those plugs.
