I'm running a 55 w HID for my low beam on my Lightning. It's a huge increase in light.

The stock wiring cannot support a 100w halogen bulb or 55w HID. 35w HID is the way to go without having to upgrade wiring and install relays. 35w HID puts out 3x more light than 55w halogen.

I am running 35w 8000k HID in my Firebolt. Be sure to select H7 bulb.

Terrys1980, I can just put some 35w HID bulbs in my bolt and I'll be fine?

no.. hence the word "kit"

the kit may not be true plug n play but its simple enough a caveman could do it

it looks like the hid lights look different than a halogen bulb and have different plugs i may be wrong i dont know the difference by looking at one i spend more of my time in engines than with lights never had to replace one before in a buell lightning and all the bike i have worked on have had glass lenses and customers all wanted stock replacement bulbs so i not educated in bulb i know that you put power to them and the wire inside glows and thats it o and Thomas Edison made one first

yes but an HID kit will plug a ballast into your stock harness and the HID into the ballast

i know that you put power to them and the wire inside glows and thats it

HID's don't have wire filaments at all : D

There are 2 main parts to the HID system. The ballast and bulbs.

HID bulbs do not have a wire inside them. The HID bulb works off of gases and salts. That is why they last so much longer, there is not a wire filament inside the bulb to break.

The HID ballast has a plug that connects directly to your factory harness. The ballast inverts the 12vdc to over 1000vac which is needed to power the bulb.
