just moved from the east coast to henderson nevada and took my 3 sport bikes to the dmv for an inspection and dam its to hot to ride 108 degrees no shade or clouds, your skin on yours arms and legs feels like its burning up. Even the wind at high way speed doesn't cool you off.

probably won't be enjoyable to ride until the fall an winter months.

I just moved to Henderson from the mid-west (N. Illinois). I got here in Jun. And yes, it's f*****g HOTTTTT here. Until recently, I was bike-less. During my 2 year bike-less stint, I drooled over the BMW R1200R, then the R850GS. I rented the 850GS about a month ago....I took it out for a 4 hour ride to see if I liked the bike. I would have bought the 850 if I liked it, but did not like the bike. Anyway, I road from Blue Diamond and Durango down to Spring Valley city....went through Spring Valley.....down to Primm city.....then back to Vegas. It was a good mixture of straight-aways, twisties, and dirt. Long story short, I could not wait to get off the bike. There was just NO relief from the heat. Forget about not wearing a jacket and long pants....you need the gear here because the drivers in LV are the worst drivers in the entire country. They are that bad here. Wear the gear!!! You're going to need it!!!

FFWD, I now have an 07' XB12STT waiting for me in Missouri that I need to go pick up (just bought it, now know longer bike-less). If I stay here, I dont plan on riding until it cools waaayyy down. It's just plain out not fun to ride in the heat here. I suppose one could ride into SOCAL to get away for some fun. But the heat doesn't dissipate until you get past Barstow. NTM, traffic on the 15 towards SOCAL can get bad at times. I might be moving back to mid-west. My wife really hates it here. I could take it or leave it....but I can see why she hates it. What brings you to LV?? If a job, what industry??

Yep, I'm over in summerlin...have a couple of buell guys here I ride with somewhat regular.

I'm ok up to about 105...then it starts getting miserable for me (but not miserable enough to drive my car!). Next couple weeks are already forecast to start cooling down, Sept should be about perfect for riding. Just be glad you wern't here last month...
If you're interested in riding send me a PM with your contact info, I'll shoot you a text next time we are heading out.

we have our own bussiness, relocated for tax advantages and to get away from all the snow and cold of the east coast. I would rather put up with 2 months of intense heat than 6-8 months cold weather that all you can really do is go out to the mall or a resturant and eat. Here in vegas you can still get up early and work out in the early morning hours from 7-10 am and also still go out and do something in the evening after the sun goes down.

Try going out in the cold winter weather of the east coast and going for a walk or working out in 10-20 degree weather. The only work out you would get is shoveling snow.

Also the bike riding season is really only from late May - about the second week of september, which is really only about 3 months of good weather and then you have to go thru another winter.

The cold weather of the east coast is really only enjoyable when you are young and can take adavantage of all the winter sports, but when you get older the cold weather really sucks, also the state we left is really dying and is taxing its remaining residents to death.

I used to joke with the my old friends in my home town that the sign welcoming ppl to the town should read welcome _______ town , NOTHING BUT TOMB STONE AND NURSING HOMES.

It nice to be in henderson, alot of good places to eat and activity, even with the bad economy there is still alot going on and we bought a 2 yr. old $500k home for $250K, in our home state property values never really rose high or dropped so we will sell our old home for a good price and instantly pay off the home in henderson in a few months.
