I may sound dumb but...I have an 08XB12R and I just purchased a new ecm for drummer exhaust and i want to install it myself. I don't have service manual(which i'm going to buy soon). I used to have a lightning and I knew where the ecm was at. Where is it on the firebolt? anyone have a pic. As far as i've read i have to plug in, reset tps and ride right?

Ecm on your bike is under the front fairing, above headlight bracket.

Remove mirrors, blinkers and two forward fasteners on windscreen, remove fairing. Ecm will be right there.
Easy as pie.

I don't know for sure about the reset but I'd do it anyway just for good measure.

Yes you should reset it. I have the same ECM on my 0812R. Do you have a Drummer?

Just installed mine... about to try it out.

I have heard mixed things about whether or not to do the TPS on 08+ bikes but its so easy (just make sure you follow the steps carefully I have seen many think they did it but they missed a step or did something in the wrong order) that you might as well.

I just started mine up, idled a bit high (1500rpm) but maybe it will go down after I ride it down the block and get it warmed up. Going to take it for a cruise right now. K&N comes in tomorrow then I'll really test it out.

I reset it before I even started it. So I do not know how it would have run. Sorry.

Is the stock ecm fastened in? or is it just pull and plug?

Both ECM's mount by two screws next to the battery (lightning models only).

Switch them out, its not an addition.
