I'll be buying a new bike towards the end of Aug, and an 07 xb12stt is on my short list along with the Kawi Versys. Are there any long time XB12 owners that can comment on how they hold up long term?

They aren't any different than any other XB in terms of reliability. Only difference between a STT and SS is the suspension and some cosmetic bits. There are multiple XB owners with 40k+ miles on them, mine included.

STT: probably the fastest/most reliable/coolest/best handling/highest mileage/lightest/etc... buell ever built.

Assuming the world ended in 2007 and the 1125R never came out, yes ; )

oh! yes ... the 1125 ... if it had the suspension/frame/engine/look of the STT that would be the perfect bike. A great replacement for my STT.

So how reliable have the xb12's been? I don't mind replacing the rear wheel bearings or applying loctite, but I want to know I won't be replacing parts every year.

Good news is, every potential problem you could have has been figured out and has a fix available for it.

Check out the New Uly Owner section, it covers any potential issue you might have down the road - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442053.html?1238017122

My 07 STT is doing well, but so is my 06 Uly. Great bikes.
