Woah???? I have not been paying attention to what Erick has been up to over at his new Biz?

They now have race ECMs for use late model XB riders, anyone tried one out yet?

http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product31.html

I have a 2008 ULY with a KN filter & Special Opps exhaust. I imagine I would gain something from this ECM.

I used to have a 2002 Lightning & did the KN & Supertrapp exhaust, when I put the then available race ECM on it, it really woke the bike up?

I am seriously considering getting one of these ECM's from Buell Racing to go with my XB12 with the more open air system I have through the filter & exhaust!

I know I know.... I just didnt pay attention to Buell Racing because I thought it was all 1125R stuff... just been enjoying my ULY & getting OEM parts from the dealer as needed. I have not even looked at the Buell racing site...

So I am guessing this is a GOOD purchase then :-D

I'm stuck with my lurching 2009 xb9sx, really getting annoying having a deadspot in acceleration. Frustrating to say the least, anyone have some ideas on what to do without having an ECM?

Ever since I put my Jardine on it's popping (A LOT) and got a massive dead spot at about 3.5k - 4k RPM. Everyone says to get a new ECM or a reflash, but apparently nothing is available for my bike.

Not much, you aint going nowhere without an ECM! : D

Seriously tho, email Erik Buell Racing....they will hook you up I'm sure, even tho they don't list one on their website (or just ditch the Jardine...).

They do have them posted on their website. Go to Erik Buell Racing Racing and you will see them under electrical I believe. make sure you get the correct year and if you have any type of loud after market pipe get the drummer version not the standerd race ecm. That is what they told me.

Brightbuell, they do not have one for his bike. The only XB9 they have listed is one for a 2003-04 an done for a 2005-07. Nothing listed for his 2009 XB9SX.

They don't have any pre-programmed DDFI3 XB9 ECMs listed, but you can buy the programmable one and do it that way. Being that the XB9 pretty much didn't exist after 07, there weren't as many built. Erik Buell Racing has limited time and resources so they focused their tuning services on 1125 and XB12 models. Perhaps an email to Erik Buell Racing to see if they can accommodate your needs could help.

Don't waste your time emailing them. I have been bugging them for months about a Race ECM for a 2008 XB9SX. Erik said, "They want to make one available, but have not had the time to do so." I continue to patiently wait.

Sent them an email, and an hour later already received a response! Here's what they said. Which is pretty good news!

quote:

Chris,

We do not have any preprogrammed race ECM's yet for the '08-'10 XB9's. We actually will start that project this weekend and hope to have the first ECM by mid next week. It will be for the Drummer. The work to do this really well takes a lot of hours. The Jardine XB9 calibration work will probably be started the following weekend. So hopefully soon.

Thank you,
Tech Support
Erik Buell Racing

I installed one of the Erik Buell Racing ECM's on my 09 12Ss with the Drummer SS exhaust.
At first it was better than the stock ECM as far as engine performance is concerned.
The bike has gotten progressively worse as far as ride-ability is concerned. Coughing, lurching, and erratic idle.
The bike is no longer fun to ride.
I'm to the point of slipping the stock ECM back onto the bike.
Yes, I've done the TPS reset.
I may contact Erik Buell Racing for help. Maybe a new reflash?

Mike.

Sounds like issues other than ECM, possible intake manifold air leak.

You should slip the old ecm back in just to see if its got more problems then it used to. If so then you could know for sure that is not the race ecm.

I think we all can agree Erik Buell genuinely cares for his customers and tries his best to do right by them . BUT the SELF? adjusting ecm just didnt pan out( no one is perfect for christ sake)
IMHO the pre-programed ECM from Erik Buell Racing is probably your safest bet for an ECM that wont fall out of tune.BTW did you use any octane boost? that fouls the Self correcting ECMs up because you cant keep the mixture that same so the SELF? correcting ECM cant adjust fast enough to keep up with fuel stops .

Mike, ask ebr if you were given the ecm with decel learn disabled. They're finding some of the ddfi3 bikes need that mod

I took the time to swap the ECM out for the stock one.
Runs like a champ with the exception of the off idle stumble it always had with the stocker.
I'm going to contact Erik Buell Racing and see if they will take it back for a check-up.
