Yup... getting in touch with LAP, probably going to sell my 2014 #15Sx and get a new 2021 in carbon fiber, great news!

Wow..how about that. Man I’m so glad to see the Buell brand and name continue.
As long as I can ride, I will ride a Buell or EBR
Hopefully add a 1190 someday : )

I perused their website, buellmotorcycle.com. It has very limited information. There was no mention of new engineering, re-designs or added function like ABS.

I suspect they ran the numbers and determined they could make a reasonable profit by assembling the same EBR designed bikes with parts they have on hand combined with parts sourced from willing EBR legacy suppliers.

There probably is a limited pool of potential buyers, especially if they can get the price way down, but without serious engineering advancements, particularly electronics, they will be building outdated sportbikes against competitors actively pushing the bleeding edge of innovation. A tough sell to be sure.

Their website did allude to new models in the works: "Super Touring" (the pictures of which are very dark. low resolution and look to be photoshoped with a big fat knobby front tire and Uly headlights) and a one off custom hill climb bike.

In any case, the 1190 motor is a jewel. I wish them well.

I believe ABS is (or very soon will be) a US Federally mandated function in all new motorcycles sold ( just like Europe is now) so....

I feel for Erik who gets dragged into this without the passion attached! From one who had his 1125r worked on by EBR's awesome team back in the day, I wish Erik all the best with FUELL: )
This article seems to be a bit more clear in what the new BUELL is going to be...who's crystal ball can tell us what 2025 will look like

It was REALLY unkind, thoughtless and uncaring to Erik who doesn't make enemies very easily to continue to infer that "Buell is back" and create the, incorrect, illusion that any person, any engineering, any thing other than 10 year old left over parts were involved.

No one at LAP has ever engineered, built, marketed, serviced, supported and done anything required to build motorcycles.

Many old times will recall my old saying . . . . "once you get a well sorted, tested and developed motorcycle . . . you are 3% of the way to having a real motorcycle Company".

Erik, and some of the Elves, are doing innovative, challenging and exciting things that will provide valuable goods and services to people,

I have a niece named SHELBY and I think I may be on to something . . . .

I just don't get Eric Buells business sense?? That's was so screwed up of them to use his name but, why would you "sell out" all rights to something you have created and worked so hard for?? Am I missing something? Did he just get kicked to the curb? "Thanks for the 10 models, we don't need you anymore"??

So far in the new Buell experience...

When the switch was announced and the new website went up, I sent a pair of messages inquiring about purchase of a 2021 Carbon Fiber edition Sx.

I asked if the crank nut, evap and chain roller issues were being addressed in a new machine, if there would be at least a parts warranty and the price delivered to me in New York.

I also indicated I owned an FXRS, X1, 12R, 1125Cr and #15 2014 EBR 1190Sx. I would sell the Sx.

Message was sent through Buell Facebook messenger and thru the info email addie on the new website. So far, only Jacob Stark has made contact and will be talking to Bill Melvin after Daytona and get me some information at least.

Some might know, Jacob has been hired into the Buell Motorcycle company, maybe Erik is not involved but a couple elves and Jacob give me some hope along with Bill having tried in East Troy and committed to build new bikes at LAP and hired good builders from EBR for ongoing builds.

I wish them well, this at the age of 68 will be my last bike, and it should be an Erik Buell design, he does not have to be in the building, a reliably non-exploding newly built Sx will be a blast!

Thats a weird post Pete.
Bringing up a rare assembly issue from a completely different plant and people? And kinda rude to ask IMO. Of COURSE they want them all to be perfect and thats a rare but well known issue. Torque your drain plug to 38 FT/lbs lately? HaHa LOL: )

The evap solenoid was a result of FaceBook armchair non-engineers guessing why three (modified) race bikes lost an engine... Maybe a good guess? (seen the vid) Maybe not a problem? Maybe a lot of parts got sold to a FB group. FWIW I spent 2¢ to plug mine, JIC.

The chain thing is a (IMO) junk yard looking band-aid to a non problem and frankly dangerous to a chain with a very tight 25-30mm slack spec. Erik has to be absolutely cringing over that one.

I'm not falling for FaceBook fear mongering. YMMV. Got $5k to spend on closed deck cylinders for a bike worth $5K? IF it blows up, I'll just have insurance buy a whole new one, thanks. Ludicrous.

I've met Jacob a few times and he brought his 1125CR when we went to Buttonwillow Raceway too. Really nice guy! I like him a lot. Didn't know LAP hired him to work for Buell! Good for him!

In what respect? Is he moving to work there or staying on the west coast somehow? He's a self-taught mechanic, who likes Buells. Just like me. Maybe they'll hire me too! Guess I could just call him and ask: ) Exciting times!

FYI, I will go start my #000024 and ride the ever-loving crap out of her, without fear it will explode. But then again, I don't FaceBook.

Shoggin,

Since AF1 website and any forum turned slow, I found the registered VIN group on Crackbook to be pretty good for info,Dean, Jacob, Jens Kruper and Chaz are providing some great brain tweeking insights into the Beasie.

Did hear from the company today, the issues identified have been addressed along with some ergonomic issues for those of us with long inseam, higher bars, Stitch saddle, lowered pegs and full Carbon Fiver ,, I like the mental image. Would put my Dean Pipe and tune on her.

I'm at a point in my life at 68, soon to be 69 that I want one last new toy, I can afford it and resale is not an issue, that will be my son's problem with my Buell collection, I only asked that if he did not keep them, find a Bueller and make them a hell of a deal!

Dunno if Jacob is moving or what but the caller said he had spoken to Bill and Jacob before calling...

The price is reasonable imho.. I will post up some pics of the carbon edition when they send them to me.

The Oberon rear sets arrived from APH today, might ship them out to Buell and have them installed before shipping,, hell bro, after losing my Mom Saturday before last (she was 97 and lived with us for the last 15 yrs), picked up her cremains today, I need some joy and think a new bike will bring it.

I'd really be interested in some parts to help the vertically challenged. The parts on the one bike they built lowered were never mass produced.
