The rubber "arms" for both rear turn signals on my '08 have broken--the rubber got old and brittle, and when bumped against something, instead of bending, they broke. I am hesitant to buy new OEM turn signals as the rubber is likely more than a decade old and will probably fail prematurely as well. What have you guys done to fix your signals when the rubber breaks? Or are there aftermarket signals that are close to the same size and shape of the stockers that I can replace them with? (I generally prefer OEM signals for size and brightness--I don't like the aftermarket signals that are generally tiny and not very bright.)

A new OE turn signal will have been indoors and therefore not degraded from UV light like yours are. If you like them, replace them. I have several (new or used) if you want

Aftermarket turn signals can be very bright, but you won't find them on e-bay for $9.
Koso, Motogadget, and Rizoma are good brands

You can find aftermaket turn signals that will fit the bill for 30-40 bucks on ebay. You may have to do minor mods to install. I have found that the stockers look and perform better than those in this price range. The 1125r stock mirrors are nice units.

LAP has several sizes of RS/Rx/Sx signals from EBR and I liked the signals on my Sx. LAP has short, medium and long stem, the medium was perfect length and connectors for my Cr with a tail tidy when the stockers started looking ratty I replaced them. Here are a couple of links to Fleabay listing, 23 each plus the bus if you are interested.

Shaggin, my 1125R has ~16K miles on it.. I've owned it since new and it's always garaged when not in use, so I am confident that the rubber failure is due to age, not UV light. But hey, let me know what you want for the signals you've got and I may go that route.

Xbpete, those 1190RX blinkers look like they've got bulbs in them, instead of LEDs. I definitely want to stick with LED. What's LAP?

Hey Dave! LAP owns Erik Buell Racing, supplies parts and still builds the EBR Rx and Sx, they are bulb for the TURN . My set of two for the rear was $43 dollars delivered from Michigan to here in New York

Xbpete, looking at the EBR website, it looks like the turn signals are at least $46 each. http://www.erikbuellracing.net/store/catalogsearch /result/?q=turn+signals

How'd you get a pair for $43 shipped?

HARBOR FREIGHT

Use a roll of their stretch rubber tape nicely wrapped and stretched around the stalk while gently raising it upwards to counter potential sag. It WORKS on all my Buells but is not great for hoses.

If you do not raise the stalk enough for summer heat sag just razor cut it and wrap it again, a bit more lift the next time. At $4 -5 per role it is well worth the money and effort. I have also used some short lengths of thin stainless steel wire or strip on the underside of the stalk and then wrapped it. Can really look tidy .

I’ve used old hacksaw blades and then wrapped with black electrical tape-not a long term fix but works well and nobody knows the difference unless they are really looking for it.
