What is the best up grade for the rear master cylinder? | ||

I am genuinely interested in why people ask this about a sports bike, What are you looking to upgrade? What do you want it to do differently? A sports bike has a front brake that can lift the rear wheel off the ground, the back brake is basically a parking brake, I have seen riders doing stunts using it to control a wheelie and recently been told some use it to perform a controlled U turn ala LEO, but apart from that what is it you want to improve? | ||

I would forego the rear master cylinder (if still functional) and put the Brembo caliper on. That will improve things a bit....then spend the rest on the Buelltooth quickshifter! | ||

If you go one size smaller on the rear MC bore, you will happily get rid of the stock wooden-feeling brake pedal and have a progressive and MUCH more effective rear brake. The Brembo P32 caliper has a a piston area that measures slightly larger netting the same effect, but not to the degree the MC swap does. I HIGHLY recommend it. $30 upgrade | ||

Perhaps I am wrong on this, I did not notice any difference when I changed to the Brembo caliper but for the sake of $30 I am going to give it a go and see. What size mc do I need? This guy did the conversion and says the brake felt the same. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/634669.html "Buying the master from Brembo seemed like a nice upgrade, and easy to get. Changing the caliper will not do any miracles. I don't use the rear brake much so it doesn't matter a whole lot to me personally. It's marginally better IMHO and still feels wooden. My main objective was to get rid of a dragging rear stock caliper and at least I can use the Brembo without worrying if it's going to drag or not. That's good enough for me. | ||

I only changed the caliper because the brake pads are so much cheaper and widely available for the Brembo. I just priced up the mc change and it is north of $120 so far so unless I can find a used mc I will not be doing it, not worth it just to satisfy my curiosity. |
