My bike seems to be leaking oil from here. It started when I installed the quick shifter and replaced the OEM bolt with their aftermarket bolt. To stop the leak I've removed the quick shifter put the original bolt back in, but now the leak persists. Does anyone have ideas how I could stop this leak? It is a slow seep, but it's a real fscking mess and I hate it.

Front pulley seal, or neutral switch. The seal part# X0070.1AMA and the neutral switch part # CA0038.1AM, Just a guess.

Willmrx, Maybe I need some education. I've never been sure of what that single-wire with the spade connector is.
Does that lead to the neutral switch?
There appears to have thread-teflon-tape on it, I did not put that there, is it factory?
Has yours leaked before?
Although I'm still not sure that is what's leaking, thank you for the part number.

The neutral switch grounds the circuit which turns on the neutral light, basically. I have not had one leak, but I have seen a thread about them leaking. I have had the pulley seal leak on my 08. It only leaked when it was on the kickstand overnight. I typical keep it on the motorcycle lift, so it was not a issue and didn't seem to leak very much when I rode it. If you remove the front pulley you will see the seal. I ended up replacing mine, when I rebuilt the motor. For the teflon tape, I looked at both of mine, and could not determine if they had tape on them or not.

Gravity never stops working...kinda hard to have the oil move upward ( I doubt it's the neutral switch connection)...the belt tension on these things is pretty tight...if you go over to the 1190 facebook site you'll see owners are wearing out sprockets and chains!...pull the pulley...clean the area ( aerosol choke cleaner, simple green, dawn dish washing soap)...let it sit over night on the side stand with the pulley off...look for your leak path...hth

It is difficult for oil to fight gravity, however, with the air turbulence from the rotating pulley,(rotating CCW) it might cause the oil to flow upwards.
