Does anybody know where cable connector 234 is physically located? It connects fan power from fuse block and engine connector to fan distribution.
Having problems with fans not always being activated. Sometimes they do, often they do not get going. Coolant temp shows on IC, and it gets up to 218F. Fans should definitely be on.
Am wanting to cut the enable wires and connect them to a switch. I'll be able to turn the fans on as I want.

It sounds more like your fans may be going bad.

Fans usually work from a cold start, first ride of the day. After that not so much. Doesn't seem likely that both would be failing at the same time. Did find where the connector hides by looking in the manual some more. Want to find what is actually the problem.

Measure the voltage at the connector when the fans are not working, to see what you are getting. And if you are not getting the correct voltage, I would check all of the grounds on the wire harness. Both fans run at the same time, so to see both of them fail within the same time frame is very possible.

That's a thing to do alright. According to the Service Manual the left fan comes on first, the right if temp increases some more. Looks right now like left fan doesn't come on at all. Right fan does come on at times, I guess temp gets high enough. Both fans have 12V applied at all times. With ECM sinking other side of fan to enable them. That from manual. Also adding to the fun is the schematics clearly have errors. Will pull left fan, a PITA.

Well, I sit corrected. Reading the Service Manual again tonight. According to Cooling Section the fans come on together. No idea where I got the idea that they came on independently. Wiring diagram definitely shows them independently controlled.

CR, I read that somewhere too...canít remember where. Never seen it happen though.

Iím thinking it may have been done that way in the earliest 1125 models, then changed in later reflashes of the ECM.

Thanks Pan, Did find sheet B-8 Main Wiring diagram has fans marked reverse of which they are. I connected a 12V 1.2 Amp power supply to my left fan. It ran, slowly at first, then settled in. I let it run 10 minutes and reconnected it. I also topped up the coolant tank, it was abt an inch (25mm) low. Moto now runs at at a nice temp. I see right fan running after turning motor off. No operating of left fan. Which would be OK if they are independently controlled. Back to Main Wiring diagrams. Sheet B-7 shows fan control going to interconnect to sheet B-8, no corresponding connection to that connector on B-8. Am thinking this my be due to changes from '08 to '09. Getting to know this machine better than I would like.

Yes they eliminated the little fan wiring harness connection on the '09 and later. There is no connection from the Engine harness to the Frame harness. This drove me nuts when I dropped an '09 engine and harness into an '08 frame and harness. I had to jump the two harness to get power to the fans. This change is reflected in the '08 and '09 wiring diagrams but it's easy to miss.
