My rear wheel used to be black but over the years seems to have discolored dramatically and looks pretty drab these days. There's no longer a shine of any kind and even the original black color has faded to a sickly grimy yellowish. Has anyone else had this problem and is it recoverable? Doesn't have to return to a "like new" state but it would be nice to know if there is any cleaning product that anyone has experience with that might recover it somewhat. Thanks for any personal advice or experience that anyone can provide.

My rear wheel was like that too when I bought the bike. I read this forum a bunch to find what others had used but most of the stuff I could not find in my local stores. I did find a product call AUTOGLYM made especially for polished or anodised aluminium wheels. It worked awesome. I just sprayed it on 1/4 of the wheel, waited 30 seconds and flushed it with water. They also made a protector to put on after the wheel is cleaned to make the next cleaning quicker.

I used the simple stuff...black magic no scrub with a going over with simple green. After cleaning up real nice - I took the wheel off, I also welded on some turnouts to my stock exhaust, now it barely needs cleaned...

Thanks Skyrzr! I didn't know the Queen rode a motorcycle, but she sure got this special appointment correct! : D

I went out and bought a bottle of Autoglym and tried it out this morning. All I can say is WOW! Amazing! Sprayed it on, waited the minute and washed it off and the results are simply amazing. I think I need to give it another coat and scrub with a brush around the axle, closest to the brake disc. The grime is really caked on there.

I read a crazy list back in the early 80s of items with her seal on them. I didn't know she used a riding mower. Maybe she cleans her mower with it.

Which version of Auto Glym are you guys using? Apparently that company makes a bunch of different products.

It says Custom Wheel Cleaner on the bottle in the picture.

Ya, sorry you had to squint, i couldn't post the full size photos and for some reason my Mac likes to rotate the pics after they are posted. I'm just glad I was able to contribute to this forum since i've learned so much from it. On the bottle it says you can leave the AutoGlym on for a minute but I only let it set for 30 seconds, flushed it with water and then applied it again to the areas that needed a little more time. Maybe I was too cautious but didn't want to take a chance.
