Greetings all, In January, I bought a black 2009 1125R with 1685 miles on it. It had it's 600 mile service, the H-D bandaid, dry rotting original tires with chicken strips 2 inches wide, and other signs of neglect. Debates and advice from this forum were very helpful as I sorted out problems and massaged the beast into good form. Thanks to all for your contributions. My last ride on a bike was in 2002, on a heavily-modified 93 Dynaglide with an S & S 89" motor. I now have about 100 miles on the Buell, and the shock of discovering a whole new world is being replaced by confidence and admiration of the machine's capabilities. I dealt with the usual problems such as charging system and clutch actuator, de-noided and added a K&N air filter, then improved wiring and cable routing and thermal shielding, eliminated passenger pegs and pillion seat, changed fluids and bled brakes, etc. The bike has lost about 30 lbs so far. I have the suspension settings pretty well sorted, and the Keda RT-3 exhaust and ECM are working well together. Metzeler M7/RR tires are getting wider and wider wear marks on them. Although I was an MSF instructor when I was stationed in the UK, it will take some time before my skills improve enough to fully enjoy the bike's possibilities. It's a journey, not a destination. I will post a list of items for sale resulting from the changes I made on the appropriate board. Thanks again for sharing the wisdom of the 1125. |

Glad you're enjoying it. The hottest bike I had ridden prior to my '09 CR was a self built 96" Dyna Wide Glide with an S&S Hot Setup in it, with Super Stock heads, the appropriate pistons, and a 585 cam installed, along with a modified V&H Pro Pipe, dyno tuned. It was stolen in 2012, along with my truck, trailer, my late brother's gun and ammo collection, a few of my guns, a shitload of mine and my brother's personal items... The only good thing about it, was that it eventually led to buying a pair of 1125s, an R and a CR. I had begun vacationing in the area of Helen, GA, and riding the twisties up there. After the Dyna Wide Glide was stolen, I bought a shovel powered FXR-T, but it turned into a project immediately. It was followed by an '07 Dyna Super Glide, which ate up a bunch of money becoming something two people could travel on, but the ground clearance and performance sucked... I did manage to improve both, but discovering the 1125CR (first) was like waking to a whole new world! One that I'm still discovering! |
