Hey all,
I picked up an white 09 1125r on sunday. put about 250 miles on it so far. I love this bike!
Any recommendations as to a softer seat and a phone mount that will fit in the front?
thanks!
Isaac

welcome Rage : )
the white color scheme is the best!

if you're good w/ ebay.. you can find some aftermarket seats. corbin made one (what I have); saddleman made one too. a real nice one. but, they may be hard to find, and pricey.
there's others I expect...
I don't know why you couldn't take your current seat to an upholster.. and get a custom seat made.

I could do that. Idk. Gotta look into it.

Whats the deal with the electrical system.
It seems the charging system isnt working. I read that there are stator problem on this bike. It supposedly had the upgraded stator when i bought it. What other electrical gremlins are there? Are there any problems with the rotor or rectifier?

scroll down...there is a "sub forum" for charging issues...2009 bikes came with an "improved" stator but the improvement caused the stator to run "hot" and burn up it's insulation...HD tried to fix it with a "band aid" but long term fix is replacing the stator , drilling the rotor and replacing the Reg/rec.
here's a recent post from the sub forum that may help...( google at the top of this page is your friend)

So, update. Bike was putting out 12.9v last night when i was almost to my girlfriends. It barely turned over once i shut it off. Battery was drained. Got it started in the morning by itself because i had no other way to get to work. It put out 13.5-13.9 for about 20 min then settled to 13.3 for the rest of the ride in. About an hour after shutting down the battery was at 12.2. So the charging system us deff not putting out.
The previous owner said he had a new wiring harnes installed. I have to check the paperwork that it came with to see what exactlt was done...

Sounds like more of a bad battery than a charging system issue..

Agreed. At 13.3 volts, the charging system is still sending power to the battery.

In regards to the seat issue, I've had four different types; Corbin, saddleman, seat concepts, and stock...
Corbin - great shape for sitting in and not hanging off, hard.
Saddlemen - good padding, good shape, pushed me too far forward, sold it.
Seat concepts - smooth, well padded, sitting on bike not "in". Still have if you want to purchase.
Stock - well it sounds like you know.
Hope that helps.

I concur about the electrical issue - drop in a new battery.

Have had a Corbin seat for long miles now. It is firm, comfortable though. I feel more in the bike with it. Not a hang off the edge seat.
Had a Buell cushier seat, forget what they called it. It was too thick for me. I felt way too high on the bike. Sold it.

So i changed the battery. Problem is not going away. I tried putting a charger on it over the weekend and that didnt help. I think there must be a slow drain from some component. Maybe the race ECM thats in there? I have the stock one. Are they just plug and play? Or do i have to reprogram anything if i want to switch em. Where is the ECM located?

The ECM (edited bc dang SIRI doesn't know anything about engines.) is in the left pod cover. You can just swap them. I'd suggest you check the stator output. If you have a service manual the procedure is in there. If not it has been posted here many times, there's even a video on YouTube. I hope the stator checks out okay for you. Do you know if the Harley "Fix" is still under the seat? There is a relay zip tied to the right side subframe that is part of the HD bandaid, sometimes that goes bad. Use the google search at the top of the screen.

I turn the bike off, by the "kill switch"

If you turn off by using the key, I have noticed that there is a small electrical drain.

I am able to start the bike after it sitting in the garage for 10days

So it has the harley fix with the relay. Voltage between phases was 19v with the off road ECM. 21v with the buell ECM. Rpm was about 1500 each time. Engine was cold.

Take a look at the data on your IC, see what firmware version is on it.
Chances are it's either 6.1 or 6.2.

My late '09 had 6.1 on it when I bought it, and would occasionally drain the battery while sitting.

I picked up a new takeoff with 6.2 on it, haven't had another problem.

On the other hand, I bought an '08 with 4.3 loaded in the IC. It also went dead a time or two.
I put the IC I took off the '09 on it, so it now has 6.1 on it, and haven't had another problem...

Your guess is as good as mine...as long as they both keep doing what they should, I'm not going to complain!

1) so when the bike is cold (stock ecu) and i put it in gear the engine revs up to 3k idle. no way to lower it. makes it very anoying to get off my block quietly. (5:45 am...) any idea whats up with that?

2) my fuel gauge keeps telling me im low when i know im full or almost full. what parts do i need to fix this and whats the repair procedure. i know it involves soldering a resistor into something on the fuel sender but thats about it.
thanks,
Isaac

Other thoughts,
1) the race ecm i have is supposedly tuned for the RT-3 previous owner bought it with an HMF but only bought the ECU and not the RT-3. how off are the two maps?
2) I am currently using the stock ECM untill i can figure out why the race ECM keeps draining my battery. how off is the stock map vs the HMF map?
thanks,
Isaac

I saw no one answered your question about a phone mount. IMHO there is only one option:
Techmount

I have one and it's perfect.

In reference to seats, from a not all that old guy with prostate issues due to unrelated meds, the Saddlemen seat with the center channel made all the difference in the world for me.

Edit: I found mine on this forum.

Edit: What's with the phones? I may be a dinosaur but a phone is the last thing I want to be bothered with when I'm enjoying either of my 1125s...
