Hey everyone this is my first post, I recently purchased a 2009 Buell 1125R from a good buddy. The bike was having the common stator and charging problems. My buddy replaced the Stator and battery at the same time. He rode the bike for little while and now having problems with it blowing the battery fuse (30A), every time we replace the fuse it blows. When we unhook the small ground connected to the battery the fuse does not blow. We believe there is a short in a wire somewhere, I have tested the rectifier, stator and battery all with a multimeter. Per the videos of this forum and everything has checked out good. I went into diagnostic mode and have pulled the codes and this is what it read:

P2303- Rear Ignition Coil
P0087- Fuel rail system pressure to low
P0511- Idle air control circuit
P1047- Front and rear adaptive
P0339- Crankshaft Position

Any help would be much appreciated, trying to see if it is something that I can fix myself before taking it in to mechanic. Thank you!

Small ground wire? Does the bike start with that wire disconnected? Have you determined what that wire grounds? By any chance, is it the ground for a battery tender?

Thank you for the reply. I'm still trying to figure out what that small wire is for, it looks like a ground(black)with loop end and comes out of the harness back by the battery. I talked to my buddy and he believes is was for a battery tender that used to be connected. I tested the wire and it has 12 volts coming out of it so it has power, the bike currently does not run. I believe it needs a starter. I'm not getting anything when I go to turn it over. is there a way to test the starter?? I will also post pics of that wire I am talking about.

4 black wires that are all bundled together, one black wire runs into the box of relays, one black wire goes into the Rectifier(Connector), one black wire goes into the Fuel pump connector. And the fourth black wire not sure.

the "Google" link at the top of this page is very helpful...type in a subject or question and you'll see several response from members over the years...

here's a link to "test starter" ...scroll down as it has a "logic/block diagram" and pages out of the Service manual to help in your trouble shooting...Good Luck!

the ring terminal looks like 1/4" ID...most likely the connection to the (+) post on your battery for charging...you need to try and follow it and see where the "other" end goes...if the other end is touching the frame ((-)ground)...you'll keep blowing fuses...hth

When I connect the ring terminal to the pos side of the battery, it powers up the bike with no fuse(30A Battery) installed. Would that be some sort of bypass??

Do you have a wiring diagram? What is at the other end of the four black wires; as I'm looking at your pictures, and your comment about powering up the bike when connected to the positive battery terminal, it seems to me that they may be connected to a positive lead and then shrink-wrapped; that does not look "factory" to me, but I'm no expert.
