Does anyone know of any aftermarket mirrors that are plug and play and a little more useful than OEM (like a little larger and better shaped)? I saw some a while ago but can't remember the brand or source.

I do want built in blinkers, otherwise the Firebolt mirrors look pretty nice.

An ebay search for Ducati mirrors will turn up some good results. You can go cheap($25) or expensive($200).
Just find a set that has a matching bolt pattern and some have a universal bolt pattern.

Thanks Terry. I did look at eBay, once you filter out the $25 Chinese garbage there really isn't much there. The Ducati ones at moto-science have very short stems and I'm already looking too much at my elbows with the OEM ones . They're also almost identical in shape and size to the 11125R OEM mirrors, so nothing to be gained.

You can get more adjustment out of the mirror by passing a folded piece of sandpaper between the shell and the plastic the mirror is attached to. If you sand enough and get a good position you can then seal them in place with some black RTV to minimize vibration.

I've been happy with these

I think all mirrors on these bikes are problematic. As Dxg states, all you see is elbows. I think the best setup would be a camera and central display, but I have yet to find one that works well.

Stevel, I think a larger more rectangular mirror like the Firebolt mirror, on a slightly longer stem would work just fine. I just can't find any with built-in turn signals.
Edit: Camera may work well but I'm not sure I'd want the added complexity unless I needed to reduce drag for top speed runs.

camera and monitor... across the pond
http://www.4kam.com/bikeeye_wireless_rear_view_cam era.htm

here in SoCal...they been experimenting with them (rear view camera systems) since the TL/RC came out...connections and vibrations seem to challenge the reliability of the mods.

the stock mirrors tend to "grab" too much air at near triple digit speeds- and change their view (even after drilling out the rivet and modifying with a big bolt and nut)...I gave up on them...

I use a Emgo mirror designed for a F4 Honda (20-87021 & 87022)...or a (20-87025 & 87026 with led turn signals) still can't see past the elbows but they don't move...
I use some small "spot mirrors" from bike master , about the size of a $.50 piece (600209)...moved my turn signals down to the running lights with amber LEDs...hth

Ron, I really like the shape of those Emgo mirrors, thanks. Does it look like you could remove the stems and have some longer ones machined?

No, not without breaking the glass...
a) cut the stems and add some material ( tubing with the correct ID to "slip fit" the stems...JB weld in place, as TIG welding would melt the plastic "knuckle" up by the mirror)...rattle can a satin black to finish
b)leave the stem "as is" and build a spacer or add standoffs (with longer bolts) to move the base out from the fairing to get the proper rear view

Thanks again. Standoffs would look a bit too ghetto for me but splices are a very good idea. I could also shrink them in place by heating one part and freezing the other before assembly.

Can I ask you for a favor? Could you measure and tell me the width and height of the mirror glass? I can scale everything else from that for a preliminary idea.

W= 4.8"
H= 3.2"

you can download the Emgo mirror catalog....Note the catalog is kinda in (2) parts...a) the Applications (Make, model, Year, P/Ns), b) pictures of the actual mirrors...must remember to scroll down thru application pages to see pix of what you want to order...once you have that... google "Emgo & P/n" and you may get many hits as to who has what for sale...

http://www.emgo.com/index.php/catalogs

scroll down after you get to the site...mirror catalog is near bottom of Emgo home page
Happy to help...

Great info, thanks. Lots of really nice mirrors in that catalog, too bad they don't have more with lights in them. But I think the F4 ones will work just fine.

I put some factory Buell Firebolt Long-stem(late-model) mirrors on my 1125R. They are lower and don't look like antlers. The Firebolt mirrors are more stable with less vibration and I can see better with them. They do not have turn signals inside of them so I simply wired my marker lights to the turn signal wires and put amber bulbs in. It was an easy conversion. Works great for me.

Ebmachine - that's the fix I've been preaching since 2008.

Use Oberon bar end mirror and do running lights to indicators mod ... Much cleaner.
