I have been trying to get an answer from Rick's as to how they wind the USA made stator. I just want to know if it was wound to make less heat or if it has the same number of windings, and thus same output as stock. I installed new ebr rotor, ricks stator and also a new SH847 Voltage Regulator. I am having a problem with it charging once the fans kick on. All Rick's will tell me is what temperature the wiring they use is supposed to withstand.

I have the stock stator, should I rewind myself or send it to the place youre going to suggest for a custom rewind?

My Experience
I have the oil passage stator cool fix , I installed the 847 Regulator.
My bike was doing the same voltage drop when fan start. I changer my reg back to the stock one, I have no problems now as the reg is charging at 13.4 even when the fans start.

I have an SH847 mounted under the license plate holder, original stator, no rotor fix; voltage is never less than 13.4 whether the fans are running or not. On a hot day the only change is the amount of heat being radiated from the V/R fins.

I will try going back to my stock regulator.

I forgot to mention I've tried this on 3 batteries that alll passed the test on a little hand held machine from adv auto parts

A little more info
I had the oil jet hole drilled at my work ( collage)had the stator rewound at a company here in Australia, I fitted the original voltage reg on the back of the rear number plate. On start up instrument cluster is saying 13.4..5 and when the fans cut in the regulator is around 13.4. I did try the Ricks SH847 but the voltage dropped down to 12.6 and only climbed back up when I pulled the fuse. So I tried the stock voltage reg

For the battery that measured 12.6 with the fans on and the SH847, what did that same battery measure with the bike off? If it was below 12.6, then the SH847 was still charging the battery, even with the fans on.

Ideally, for a shunt regulator and permanent magnet system, you want the bike at idle to make just enough power to run all accessories and (barely) charge the battery.

Have you checked the stator output by segment? The procedure is posted on here somewhere.

For some reason it's actually been charging great, so she is going to go on a long ride and see if she holds up in the heat of a long ride.
