Been amusing myself reading EBay ads for 1125 parts. Like the $225 used noise control solenoid, or the dozen or so other names various sellers have called the solenoid. Choke cable, etc. Or the used drive belt for $150, when there's a new one listed for $175. Bunches of trashed radiator pod covers, some missing the front portion with the diverter vane, at prices up to $100... Or the 1125R VOES...(BAP or MAP sensor). On the other hand, there are some really good deals. I bought some of the Magpul takeoff stuff yesterday. Wish I had done so a while back when there was more of it available. Hard to guess what you're most likely to need down the road though. Still thinking about grabbing one of those takeoff sub-frames for $69. | ||

Last year there was a guy selling the shouldered bolts that hold a lot of parts on for $20 each. A bit of profit. | ||

I anticipated this shortage several years ago and began collecting every part that is used in building 1125s from wrecked bikes. I bought them all for scrap prices, including the special tools that were being sold when HD scrapped Buell. It has proven to have been very prudent. | ||

Wow... I ordered a handful of new ones from American Sport Bike the other day, then spent some time looking for the speed nuts used for the radiator pods. Al doesn't stock them. I found some that should work at McMaster-Carr, but won't know for sure until I get them tomorrow. I also looked for the shoulder screws. Found some socket heads that might suffice, but they're Allen head, not Torx head. I ordered a few to try. In the meantime, I'm using some M6x1 stainless Allen head bolts with a small diameter flat washer and a short piece of stiff vinyl tubing under the washer to simulate the shoulder. Froggy

I got the hardware order from McMaster-Carr today. The shoulder bolts/screws were a bust...the description on the web page didn't mention the shoulder is offset from the head a significant distance with an undercut between them. The dimensional drawing didn't show it either. I would send them back, but it's not worth it for the small quantity I ordered. Edited to add that the undercut is part of the overall length of the shoulder. The shoulder is 2mm longer than I need, but it's what I ordered, as it was the closest thing they listed to the originals. I can use them by shortening the shoulder in the lathe, but wasn't expecting to have to do so. Haven't tried the speed nuts yet, but I have some concerns about them too. Once again, they look a bit different from what was pictured on the web page, at least if my memory serves me correctly. I need to look into it further. In an effort to keep all body fasteners on my bikes consistent (AKA black, M6, torx T30 heads...) I also previously went on the same quest as you. I came up completely bust, and ended up paying the big bucks to order from HD/EBR dealers. SOMEBODY makes them for HD and EBR, but I haven't found them. If you find a (the?) source of competitively-priced torx hardware, you definitely would be THE man! | ||

Anixter made all the fasteners and some other small parts for Buell for the last few years of production (Blast, XB and 1125) | ||
