I lost the clutch on mine a while back, assumed it is the dreaded clutch weep. Had ordered a kit from EBR to fix it, but after moving into a new house I can't seem to find it? What actually happens when the clutch weep occurs? Can I refill it and ride for a while until I find the part to fix it? Is this something that leaks slowly over a period of time or will it be gushing out by the time I make my 50-mile commute to work?

Mine leaked very slowly from the time i bought it to when i did the EBR update, around 8 months.

It did once leak long enough without me checking the level to get air into the line, which obviously effected the operation of my clutch. I simply added fluid, bled out the air and kept riding it with the slow leak (until i fixed it permanently)

Just keep an eye on the fluid level, fill when necessary and all you have is an annoyance of leaking fluid on your right side.

Thanks for the reply man. Hey, I have old Harleys too so I'm used to my girls marking their spots!

OK, stupid question time! Where do these things leak down? My clutch master cylinder is full!

If it's leaking it'll leak from the right side puck.

That's what I thought. If it was leaking wouldn't the master cylinder on the handlebars be empty?

Yep, if it was leaking then every time you pull in the clutch some fluid would escape from around the o-rings behind the puck and drip down the side of case.

Man, I just assumed it was the clutch weep when it went out. What else would take out my clutch? I just went out one morning to take it to work and I had nothing!!

Get the Oberon replacement instead imo.

The thing is, I haven't replaced anything yet, and haven't lost any fluid. What's up with that??

You probably have lost fluid. It takes a lot of drops to equal a mastercylinder.

I think his point is he has no clutch pull, but still has (what appears to be) enough fluid in the master cyl to not have had air push into the line.

I'd suggest pulling the master cyl cap and really looking at the fluid. If the bars are tilted, bike on kickstand etc the fluid can push aside and let air in even if it "looks" like there is enough fluid.

Fill it full and bleed it well, start there. Then move on to more potentially troublesome and costly issues.

Well, I found the EBR part so it's time to fix it! Have a question though: what did you guys use to hold that spherical nut to loosen it? Did you actually have to buy the special tool?

Hogluvr...go here:

you'll need a 5mm allen wrench and a 17mm box...kinda like adjusting valves...the allen wrench goes inside the box wrench to keep the shaft from spinning

Here's a kicker. With EBR still down should i get the Oberon then? Best place to order it?

The EBR ones might pop up again soon seeing that the race ECMs have...

Go for the Oberon, I've not heard anything bad about them. Only downside is that it is more expensive than the EBR part, but we don't know when EBR will be back to selling parts, so basically the Oberon is your best bet at the minute, unless you want to pay even more for the Buell X2086.1AM kit

Looks like Surdyke has the kit for about the same price as the Oberon. $212

I'm curious if this fixed your issue? My bike did the same thing. My fluid never got even close to low but I was loosing clutch pull.

I just hate to spend the money on a new slave cylinder just to find out that isn't the problem. Any help is appreciated.

Probable scenario -

Slave leaks, not much but steady. Might leave a drop, drop may blow off when riding.
Over time M/C gets low enough that a little air gets sucked in when you release the clutch.

Eventually the air bubble is big enough to kill the clutch.....

Replace the slave and bleed. You will be back on the road.
