I may take a look at an 1125R I found on CR, but may not.

It's been ungaraged for over a year, and uncovered for a few months, according to the seller's wife.

Looks rough even in pics.

When I asked via email about the exhaust and ECM, I got the following.
"It has a dyno auto command system .. Fairy tale pipe exhaust. "

I'm guessing from that it has a Power Commander tuner (maybe), but can't even make a guess about the exhaust.
Any ideas?

Does look like D&D with the tapered outlet but the D&D has a tapered can and that one looks like straight shiny stainless.

Remus did make a can similar to that.

Can you post a link to the listing?

Unless this bike is SUPER cheap (like $2K) or you're too broke to afford an 1125R in much better shape (figure $4k-$5k to buy a nice one), I would run away. Seriously, that thing sounds like a piece of shit.

After looking more closely at this and other pics, I think it may have been down on the right side. I don't have a good shot of the complete right side, but one I have seems to show some light damage.
I emailed the seller again, and asked for more info and a better pic of that side.
Some clutch work was done recently, but I don't know what yet.
I'm planning to look at it tonight, with the intention of buying it for parts.

If I don't take it, or can't get it for the right price, I'll post the info here.

Edited to add that the latest info states "never wrecked, but has been dropped a couple of times...".

I should be getting my old 09 1125cr back soon. It has 22,000 miles on it and has never had anything done to stater, planning on doing the up grade. Where is the best place to get parts at now!!

2r_300, American Sports Bike seems to be able to supply just about anything that's available.

If you don't see what you're looking for on the web site, call or email Al, and he'll take care of you.

He also supports this site.

Your best bet for rotor/stator upgrades and a one stop shop is Twin Motorcycles but it does involve shipping your rotor overseas.

Well, I got it.
Never heard the screeching noise, but overall, the motor is much quieter than the one in my '09 CR with 8700 miles on it.

This one is rougher overall, and weathered, but has a PC V with Auto-tune, and some other interesting parts installed.

And the price was right.

The decals will be the first thing to go.

Anyone recognize the fairings on this bike?
I know the picture sucks, part of the camera lens was fogged when I took the pic.

The front and radiator pod covers are all one piece, and the lower sides and bottom are one piece, held to the upper section with cam-locks.

The previous owner didn't know shit about the bike, and told me the first owner (a design engineer at Gulfstream Aircraft) had made them.

They don't look like one-offs to me. They have Buell decals on the lower section, but I know that doesn't mean squat.

Edited to add the exhaust is obnoxiously loud...throttle response is intriguing though. Haven't ridden it enough to really get a feel for the overall performance yet.
Lots of little issues to deal with.

Those Buell decals look like normal OEM airbox decals based on the size and raise, but it could be aftermarket stuff too.

That fairing is most likely the Catalyst Racing Composites fairing http://catalystracingcomposites.com/i-8689187-08-0 9-1125r-supersport-lower.html

Edited to add the exhaust is obnoxiously loud...

Like I said, D&D It's an inverted cone megaphone, loudest exhaust of Al's exhaust shoot-out.
It has the bend in the same place as the D&Ds I've seen.

They make real nice slip-ons for tubers and XBs, their 1125 can sucks(IMHO).

I started taking the can apart yesterday to try removing the steel wool packing and replace it with material from the interior of a factory Harley muffler, if I can squeeze it in there. Not sure it's going to fit.

There's a fair amount of corrosion on the bike. Looks like it spent some time in a salty environment at some point in it's life.
I'm encountering some frustration with nuts captured in plastic spinning instead of releasing the bolts.
(And the pull-type nut in the muffler insert,..easy one to cut off though)

Problems found so far include a bad fan on the left side, stubborn Mode and Toggle switches on the IC, and not all functions displayed. Additionally, the Auto-Tune doesn't seem to be functioning.

Terrys1980, I don't know. I got the stock red spring with the bike, but no info on the blue one.

The original owner reportedly weighed 285...

For those spinning brass inserts -
Keep spinning with a bit in a drill until the plastic melts and pull out screw/insert together.

Separate the two and re-insert the brass with the tip of a solder iron.

Slip the insert on the tip and get it hot enough to sizzle spit.

Slide it into the hole and align with a small screwdriver until the insert is cool and solid.

Thanks Z. Sounds like a plan.

I realized today the muffler includes parts from a Supertrapp baffle. Must be something the 1st owner put together.
I'm dissecting old mufflers, and hopefully will put something together that will quiet it a bit without stifling the flow.

Not having real productive days lately due to back problems, but I did get a baffle welded up today.

I pulled the baffle out of one of a set of aftermarket Harley dresser mufflers, cut a section of the perforated pipe and part of one of the (too large) end pieces.
I cut the big end down incrementally until it fit reasonably well in the smaller end of the tapered housing, then shortened it until it fit snugly with the existing end plate, that had been previously modified.

Then I welded it to the end plate, and went back to the other end, which is now the inlet.

I welded up the junction between the perforated pipe and the flared piece, then smoothed and rounded the weld for an easier entrance flow.

Tomorrow, I'm going to drill about a hundred more holes in the pipe, then wrap it with some sound absorbent material I took out of a set of factory Dyna cat mufflers.
Then the stack of Supertrapp 3" discs that came off will go back on.

I don't expect this to perform like a high tech system, just want to quiet the bike a little so I can ride it around the neighborhood to check it out further without pissing off the neighbors.

If I can get the Power Commander Auto-tune functioning, it should self adjust to the "new" muffler.

That's next on the list.

Yes, it is. I was looking for something else and found the name on one of the coils. Seems to be a part number as well, but I need to lift the bike higher to read it.

Also found that the Auto-tune kit is an AT-300, not a -200 as I originally thought.
This means it is sampling and adjusting both cylinders independently instead of sampling just one and adjusting both based on the info from one. The -200 uses only one O2 sensor, the -300 uses two.

I got the baffle finished yesterday. Wound up punching approximately 300 holes in it with the Bridgeport and a 3/16" end mill.
Of course, that meant I had to spend about another hour breaking off the little tags on the inside of just about every hole.

I described the baffle material as perforated metal above, but that's not really the correct name for it. I've been wracking my brain trying to remember what the material is called, but can't pull it up.

Perforated metal typically has a bunch of holes punched in it, whereas this has V-shaped punctures that displace the metal and bend it inwards. Sort of like louvers, but not the same.

At any rate, I put it together and fired up the bike. Much quieter, but too restrictive.
I took the Supertrapp discs back off and put spacers in between them. Better...

Did some reading to refresh my memory on the Auto-tune, and found that the most likely cause of it not working was a missing CAN termination plug from an unused socket.
I stole one out of my Dyna, and will be testing it again later today.

Granddaught's birthday today, so I won't have much more time to mess with it.

Hmmm...didn't get back to the bike until this morning.
Left the Battery Tender on the battery yesterday afternoon even though it's been starting the bike just fine.
I haven't been running it for any length of time and figured I'd leave the charger on overnight just for the hell of it.

Got out here this morning, saw the charger was still showing a red light indicating charging, and checked the voltage with a meter.

8.6 volts...

Key was in the off position, kill switch was off. Odd.
The only change I've made was putting the CAN termination plug in the Auto-tune module, and I looked at both PC components afterwards, no lights were lit.

Pulled the nearly new Drag Specialties battery. Found dirty terminals, and no spacer under the positive cable, even though there was a sealed bag of new hardware including an appropriate spacer for the recessed positive terminal in the compartment behind the battery.

Not sure if the battery was installed by the guy I bought it from, or the shop he mentioned that had done some work on it for him.

I'm charging the battery, and am pulling the Shorai out of the '09 so I can troubleshoot this one (the '08) in the meantime.

I had a shop fan turn itself on yesterday while I was working...maybe there are some unusual electrical signals in the air. Solar flare maybe?
Who knows?

Oh joy...I just discovered that whoever set up the Auto-tune didn't have the second O2 sensor enabled, which is why I originally thought it was a single sensor system.

Now, I have to rewrite the target A/F ratios for every position on the map.

Gotta refresh my memory on how to carry an entry to multiple blocks.
Edited to add I got it figured out.

Whatever was draining the battery seems to have stopped doing so since removing the dead battery.
Puzzling.

Auto-tune is working on both cylinders now.
The missing CAN termination plug and informing the program it had two sensors made the difference.

Now, to try to sort out the IC. Anyone ever removed the rubber boots from the Mode and Toggle switches?

I'm tempted to pull them off and drop a little Corrosion Block in them to see if they'll function any better.

Miracles never cease.

I went over to the shop to try pulling the rubber boots off of the switches, but decided to try using them one more time before possibly destroying them.

For unknown reasons, they are working normally now.

Maybe disconnecting and/or swapping the battery had some affect on them...IDK.

Or maybe they were still wet from sitting outside in the rain before I bought it, and finally dried.

Damned if I know.
