Both 2008 & 2009 service manual states "When installing the fork spring verify that the tighter wound portion of the spring is installed down.

I changed the fluid on my 2008 forks and did not find the spring to have a tighter wound portion. Both ends were symmetrical. Can anyone verify this? Did 2009 fork spring change to a progressive spring. 2009 XB12Ss fork spring has a progressive spring, which has a tigher wound portion at one end relative to the other end.

They are symmetrical

Also, the manual has the fork seals BACKWARDS, the side with the spring should face the oil it's retaining.
