Hey guys!

I installed some LED bulbs to replace a burnt out marker light, and the downfall is that they're "slippery" and don't grip the socket very well. I had one loosen up enough to stop lighting up on the first ride, and it fell into the headlight housing when I tried to pull out the connector and re-seat it.
Plan A will be to put a tiny magnet on a string to see if I can grab it that way, but if that doesn't work I might have a disassembly job ahead of me. How does one open up the reflector assembly to get a bulb like this out?

I want to take care of it before I ride again so that I don't nick the reflective surface inside of the housing.

Thanks for the help!
Jim

If they're like any other modern headlight, you can heat them in the oven at a low temperature and carefully pry the clear portion off once the adhesive is warm. I'm not 100% sure, but most headlight assemblies that have HID retrofit projectors in them are installed this way.

Then just silicon the lens back on afterwards, or reheat and reuse the stock adhesive if it's still on the housing.

Barring that, I hope your magnet idea works, bc it'd be a bit of work just to get a bulb out. But it's in there, so damn.

I used a fish wire and took out the head light bulb its a lot of fun I did the same thing. The air sounds like a good idea to try. I would not take the lens off. Take the light off if I remember right its 5 bolts after you take off the fairing.

Just take the light module off the fairing stay.
Unplug it and shake the bulb out.

I wish I could "up-vote" on this forum. I read so many different solutions to problems and some of them jump out as the "right one".

Zac4Mac's got it. Keep it simple, work at it a little. The module comes off easily.
