I've noticed during lots of hot-weather mountain road riding, that I can bring my system V up by simply opening my left leg to allow air to enter the vent by the VR. It may not make electrical sense...but damned if it isn't a consistent cause/effect.

I know the VR is bolted and heat-sink-pasted to a plate that's welded to the rear subframe. I'm considering moving the whole shebang to the OUTSIDE of the undertail somewhere, so it's in more moving air while riding. Anyone ever done this? Ideas? Suggestions?

This thread has two locations that work well. There is also a post of someone moving it down by the oil cooler....

I mounted mine on an aluminum plate on back side of license plate. Am using Jardine tail tidy. The VR, a Compufire series unit barely rises above ambient temps.
