Ok new buell rider here. Just bought a 2008 1125r. Only 4k miles on it. Runs amazing and I'm loving the bike. It will need new tires next year and I'm looking for suggestions. Wants 6 to 8k on a rear (no burn outs very few wheelies.) Decent corner grip. Riding style mostly commuting to work. Twisties are rare around here but i seek them out. I don't do track days. I appreciate any suggestions you may have. |

Well, NOT the Dunlop Q3's. Fantastic tires, imo, but I get about 2500 rear and 3500 front |

I love my Michelin Pilot Road 2ct's I get about 10k Miles out of the rear and 12k miles+ out of the front...and I am not gentle lol I would imagine that the Pilot Road 4's would be even better! I will only ever put Michelin's on my bike henceforth. Jake |

+1 on the Michelins. Best tires available. Road or Power: choose your longevity. The Powers on my CR dramatically improved turn in and mid turn stability above the OEM Pirellis and lasted 6500 miles. (Message edited by pwillikers on July 09, 2015) |

I'm very happy with the Pirelli Angel line of tires, plenty of grip, and fantastic life |

I have to agree with the Michelin Pilot Road series——really any of them. Your riding profile sounds just like me: mostly spirited (long way) commutes to work. Rain or shine. No trackdays (not by choice, though, to be honest. It's just too far away and expensive to be realistic right now). I rode through two sets of the stock Diablo 3 rubber, then went to the Pilot Power 2ct, then the Road 3 which is mounted now. The Michelin Power and Diablo 3 had the pointiest profiles of the bunch, obviously, and wore out the fastest. They felt fantastic in-turn and made the bike feel extremely sharp. The Road 3 is the roundest profile by far, but it's kind of nice if most of your mileage is commuting——I ride two up frequently now and it's nice and predictable. It's also plenty fast on turn-in. Grip hasn't been a problem on any of those tires, and rain grip on the Road 3 is the best, logically. It's got a different looking tread pattern, for better or for worse looks-wise, but it works really well, and they're wearing great. That being said, I can't speak for the Angel series tires but I'm sure they're equally as great as the Michelin Road series. (Message edited by jeepinbueller on July 10, 2015) |

Nate, My riding style is similar to yours. I got a Bridgestone Battlax T30 rear last year and have about 2500 miles on it now. Still looks almost new. Dual compound so its still pretty sticky on the sides(not track sticky, but pretty nice for road riding) and still hard enough in the middle to not go to hell commuting to work. Not too expensive either. Cheers |

I just returned home from Cycle Gear, they had a tire sale on the Bridgestone BT16's for $219. I thought I'd try them. |

Froggy, I know you run Angle GT's. I see two Angles that would fit the rear of a S1 with PM wheels: 170/60 17 and 180/55 17 The 170's are 2 Rayon 1 Steel tread plies and 2 Rayon sidewall plies weighing 15 lbs. The 180's are listed as 1 Rayon 1 Steel tread plies and 1 Rayon sidewall plies weighing 14.25 lbs. Any thoughts on 2 plies versus 1 plie? |
