I dropped the oil strainer to have a look, and found this. It appears to be hard plastic.

Anyone have a clue as to what it is part of?

Here is a reduced size pic, and below is a link to what should be a full size pic on Photobucket if needed.

Incidentally, the oil filter contained nothing scary, nor did the screen, other than this piece.

Looks like piece of an oil filter...

Doesn't look like any part of the K&N filter I took out or the new one I put in.
